      • For the record, @critialcloudkicker, the fact that I live in the US doesn't mean I condone everything the US does or did and it doesn't exclude me from criticizing aspects of world politics. That's like me saying that I think you shouldn't be allowed to own land because the Dutch kept getting kicked out of their own colonies by the English and Portuguese.

        • @mrmattimation Oh no, you should definitely remember such things, even if history books are funny and it did not happen quite that way. Immagine for instance that after Brexit is completed we Dutch suddenly decide to go take over Brittain by systematically buying up all their land from under their noses. I would probably not like nor agree with it, and the govnerment might or might not be involved, but that would be the perfect time to bring that up. I'd probably get a laugh out of it :)

        • @mushi Rio ? Rio de Janeiro ? Yea that city has well over 500 PoI's. But no, do not worry, I know well enough that if you want to see some interesting stuff you need to : A speak enough of the native tongue to tell the plot to a movie without looking in a manual or book every 2 words ( In which case things like "us came hereto witness film in theatre" are actually acceptable, as long as you can make yourself understandable"). and B Go to an interesting place rather than a ( pre chewed ) tourist hotspot. Such as Bonito or Jijoca de Jericoacoara I guess ( mostly because they seem interesting,I have never heard of them before, so that sorta makes them non tourist hotspots I guess ? Idunno, If I am serious I will research more.

And when you absolutely find yourself in an area where you stand out as a dumb tourist. ... ... Try to radiate confidence... One of my friends just wore nothing but a black belt and white Kungfu clothing when he went on vacation, little crazy, but I heard it worked

        • @mushi Haha, well the WiiMote was a success actually, and then Sony and Microsoft had to create their own version. And I do not think anyone could ever unironicaly defend those things ( http://imgur.com/QG3T2kd ). Think about it, the Wii sold billions mostly because of that gimmick ( but mostly because it just worked right, and you could do things with it like bowling, and people know bowling, so they could just pick it up and play )

VR technology on the other hand. Oculus ( now FaceBook ) was dumping tonnes of money into it and mayhaps took too long perfecting it, now the competition has ran off with similar idea's. Just like with the Motion Controller idea actually. Does that mean it will inevitably go away ? I hope not, VR is a kickass experience. Kinda like your first roller coaster ride ( *wink wink* )

However, the biggest difference between the above seems to be that Oculus/FaceBook is actively trying to poison it's own well. Which is weird.

Friday, 15-Jul-16 13:42:53 UTC in context
        • @critialcloudkicker yes, it made success, but there are real few games that make a decent use of the motion controllers and they usually do not aim the more serious game fan. Leave alone that making a game for VR probably would demand way more time and money to create than one fore controllers.

I'm mean, i'm sure it will be popular, but i dont think it will be a much serious thing

Friday, 15-Jul-16 15:08:37 UTC in context
        • @mushi There are 2 things I am sensing here. Firstly, relax, there is no way that VR gaming will become bigger than traditional gaming with a monitor/tv/viewscreen. Well at least not until computers become powerfull enough to make something like a virtual reality desktop become both comfy and easy. Which probably will not happen for a long long while.

And you are confusing "popular" with "serious". I mean, skydiving is popular right now, doesn't mean that everyone who can strap on a parachute will try it.

A lot of people have a computer at home for things like taxes, official documents, and whatnot, so why not game on it ?. That is a cornerstone of the PC's power, and doing taxes with a virtual reality headset ? I do not see that happening untill we are FAR FAR into the future, or the living costs of a bigger house start to outweigh the space you would need for a monitor...

The future will be fun :)

I bring this up because after what happened over here, I've become very averse to apolitical, defeatist attitudes. I understand being disenfranchised and thinking your vote won't matter but it's simply not the way to be when you have a voice. If there's a chance that you might make a difference for the better, please go out on a limb and make that fraction of a difference. Vote if you can. If you can't, get informed, get angry if you think you should. You owe it to yourself.

I could just about beat that with my bicycle. Not that I am going to now, I'm returning from a mini vacation and my body is just short of wasted.

          • I am coping with a difficult question right now. You see, I am part of a council for the embodyment of client-rights in the WMO-system. And I am on a somewhat impromptu mini vacation with friends right now. Now we do have somewhat significant pull/weight when it comes down to client rights and the upcoming agenda contains some really heavy stuff. Now I just got word that the biggest friend and likeminded person when it comes to this council also just left for an impromptu vacation. Soo, should I cut my vacation short by about half just because I fear that the management waltzes over the remainder of the council ?
