@adiwan Well thanks to @thelastgherkin FoodFight is on my mind :+

@critialcloudkicker same but in my experience when a girl wants to watch a film she doesn't want to laugh unless it's a purposeful comedy
-
@awl Yeah, do not worry about that. She is a friend-friend, and she really really did not wanted to go to that convention a few months back, but she came anyway because we had a spare ticket and she was really REALLY bored. ... ... Spelling it out like this makes me wonder why I actually need to go watch Spice Wold

For the record, @critialcloudkicker, the fact that I live in the US doesn't mean I condone everything the US does or did and it doesn't exclude me from criticizing aspects of world politics. That's like me saying that I think you shouldn't be allowed to own land because the Dutch kept getting kicked out of their own colonies by the English and Portuguese.
Saturday, 16-Jul-16 00:37:56 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation Oh no, you should definitely remember such things, even if history books are funny and it did not happen quite that way. Immagine for instance that after Brexit is completed we Dutch suddenly decide to go take over Brittain by systematically buying up all their land from under their noses. I would probably not like nor agree with it, and the govnerment might or might not be involved, but that would be the perfect time to bring that up. I'd probably get a laugh out of it :)

Friday, 15-Jul-16 22:10:09 UTC from web-
@rarity Oh yes, in that regard we ( Europeans ) have really mangoed up badly. However, this is the game we call Diplomacy. I am of firm belief that the tone of America would be very different towards muslims in it's entirety if it was not allied with the United Arab Emirates. ... Playing the blame game can be dangerous though.
-
@critialcloudkicker Feel free to blame the US Government all you want don't stop on my behalf
-
@rarity Nono, I tried to point out that in the game of diplomacy you ALWAYS end up with situations like these where you really want to backhand all of the people involved.
-
-
In any case, I think the fact that the government of a country which has NATO nukes stationed in it is being overthrown is a very very very dangerous scenario.

@rarity I'm just slightly skeptical of a group of people barging in with guns and saying "this country is gonna be ruled by a peace council uwu". We have no idea what their actual intentions are, what they say doesn't matter once bit.
-
@mrmattimation people might die, yeah. peaceful revolution is a joke and it never means anything.
-
@mrmattimation What I find extremely amusing that words like "a country with nukes within their borders is being taken over by a military faction" come from someone who lives inside a country that invented terms like "Military-Industrial Complex". But hey, that is like asking me if I trust Dwight D Eisenhower more than the people whom are in charge of NATO nuclear payloads in Turkey right now.
... Kinda what @Rarity just said actually.
-
... It seems that Turkey has a little bit of a problem going on right now. Helicopters shooting at the National Intelligence Service and whatnot. Yeah, I guess the shoutings of people about a military coup are true. ... ... ... ... ... *various swearwords* ... If I were a betting man I'd bet that Daesh would take this opportunity to do something really stupid over there

@rarity Is it ? I mean, yeah I would love to get rid of Erdogan with minimal loss of life, but the relationships with neighbouring countries would suffer way less. And with Daesh on the border.

@critialcloudkicker try not going to Rio, it is likelly that you will be robbed there
-
@mushi Rio ? Rio de Janeiro ? Yea that city has well over 500 PoI's. But no, do not worry, I know well enough that if you want to see some interesting stuff you need to : A speak enough of the native tongue to tell the plot to a movie without looking in a manual or book every 2 words ( In which case things like "us came hereto witness film in theatre" are actually acceptable, as long as you can make yourself understandable"). and B Go to an interesting place rather than a ( pre chewed ) tourist hotspot. Such as Bonito or Jijoca de Jericoacoara I guess ( mostly because they seem interesting,I have never heard of them before, so that sorta makes them non tourist hotspots I guess ? Idunno, If I am serious I will research more.
And when you absolutely find yourself in an area where you stand out as a dumb tourist. ... ... Try to radiate confidence... One of my friends just wore nothing but a black belt and white Kungfu clothing when he went on vacation, little crazy, but I heard it worked -

@moonman Which is what I have been shouting. Also, I really do not think that will even remotely take long. Though seen that in the Ingress days they really tried to help the players to remain untrackeable by other normal players ( to prevent certain negative possible outcomes ) it will probably come in the form of LFG rather than "Meet random stranger, and throw a pokeball"

It is beginning, people are dumping their VR headsets on used-products websites en masse.
Friday, 15-Jul-16 13:15:18 UTC from web-
@mushi Haha, well the WiiMote was a success actually, and then Sony and Microsoft had to create their own version. And I do not think anyone could ever unironicaly defend those things ( http://imgur.com/QG3T2kd ). Think about it, the Wii sold billions mostly because of that gimmick ( but mostly because it just worked right, and you could do things with it like bowling, and people know bowling, so they could just pick it up and play )
VR technology on the other hand. Oculus ( now FaceBook ) was dumping tonnes of money into it and mayhaps took too long perfecting it, now the competition has ran off with similar idea's. Just like with the Motion Controller idea actually. Does that mean it will inevitably go away ? I hope not, VR is a kickass experience. Kinda like your first roller coaster ride ( *wink wink* )
However, the biggest difference between the above seems to be that Oculus/FaceBook is actively trying to poison it's own well. Which is weird. -
@critialcloudkicker yes, it made success, but there are real few games that make a decent use of the motion controllers and they usually do not aim the more serious game fan. Leave alone that making a game for VR probably would demand way more time and money to create than one fore controllers.
I'm mean, i'm sure it will be popular, but i dont think it will be a much serious thing -
@mushi There are 2 things I am sensing here. Firstly, relax, there is no way that VR gaming will become bigger than traditional gaming with a monitor/tv/viewscreen. Well at least not until computers become powerfull enough to make something like a virtual reality desktop become both comfy and easy. Which probably will not happen for a long long while.
And you are confusing "popular" with "serious". I mean, skydiving is popular right now, doesn't mean that everyone who can strap on a parachute will try it.
A lot of people have a computer at home for things like taxes, official documents, and whatnot, so why not game on it ?. That is a cornerstone of the PC's power, and doing taxes with a virtual reality headset ? I do not see that happening untill we are FAR FAR into the future, or the living costs of a bigger house start to outweigh the space you would need for a monitor...
The future will be fun :)

I have just been reading up on Pokemon Go. Can anyone explain to me what happens to your pokemon you have left at a gym gets taken over by the opposite team ? ( I mean, that is the only actual question I have left )
Wednesday, 13-Jul-16 19:47:29 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Oh good, that is way better. I read something somewhere that you put them pokemon down in a gym just like how you put down a single L8 Resonator in Ingress. And long story short, I am ALWAYS hurting for L8 resonators since the enemy team keeps blowing them up. That had me a little bit worried right there.
-
@critialcloudkicker what are talking about?
-
@shadowboltmoon In the great wide world of AR games there is one software developer called Niantic whom has created 2 games up till now. The first one is called Ingress and long story short, you pick a team ( blue or green ), walk up to a portal, hack it for items, and throw down a mini-building known as a resonator to capture it for your team. There is a limit of how much resonators you can put on there ( depending on your level, and the level of the resonator ), and the resonators on the portal make up the (tech) level of the portal. It takes 1 person at max level to create a lvl 5 portal, 2 people to make a level 6 portal, 3 to make a level 7, and 8 to make a level 8 ( max ) portal. Since L8 resonators mostly drop from level 8 portals you can probably immagine they do not grow on trees. And because the opposite team keeps destroying them I am always pinching for L8 resonators. As such, when I heard that in PoGo the pokemon left at gyms worked like resonators, I worried.

I went onto isidewith.com to see which US candidate I agree with most. Sanders is a 97% match, Stein and Clinton are both 94%, Johnson is 69% and Trump is 21%.
I bring this up because after what happened over here, I've become very averse to apolitical, defeatist attitudes. I understand being disenfranchised and thinking your vote won't matter but it's simply not the way to be when you have a voice. If there's a chance that you might make a difference for the better, please go out on a limb and make that fraction of a difference. Vote if you can. If you can't, get informed, get angry if you think you should. You owe it to yourself.Tuesday, 12-Jul-16 22:04:51 UTC from web- Scribus and Harry Underwood like this.

@tiffany I just wish that being informed didn't make me angry, and that my anger accomplished anything but making me depressed. I will still vote, I will still try, but I won't deny I'd love to just pull the plug, given the chance.
-
@scribus It's certainly not fun nor goading to be involuntarily kiwied by your country over and over but at the absolute least I support the influx of politicality that comes with it
-
@tiffany i did this and was surprised how much I supposedly agree with Trump, but not at all surprised how much more I agree with Johnson. Not Boris.

Oh lordielordie, why does a 64km ( 64 divided by 1.6 = 40 miles ) take 3 hours with public transportation ? That is like 21.3 kmph ( 13.4 miles per hour ). I could just about beat that with my bicycle. Not that I am going to now, I'm returning from a mini vacation and my body is just short of wasted.
-
I am coping with a difficult question right now. You see, I am part of a council for the embodyment of client-rights in the WMO-system. And I am on a somewhat impromptu mini vacation with friends right now. Now we do have somewhat significant pull/weight when it comes down to client rights and the upcoming agenda contains some really heavy stuff. Now I just got word that the biggest friend and likeminded person when it comes to this council also just left for an impromptu vacation. Soo, should I cut my vacation short by about half just because I fear that the management waltzes over the remainder of the council ?
