  3. As a general rule I tend to find the people who are most vehement about being entitled to free speech are usually the ones with nothing intelligent to say.

  6. @mrmattimation Being a good person isn't something you are or aren't, it's more of something you actively work at every day. No one's inherently good or anything like that, the "good" people in our world are the people who make the conscious choices to be good every day, which can be very difficult lots of the time because the complicated conversations you can get into regarding the nebulousness of morality.

  7. @mrmattimation Ha, "goon" is a good one.

  8. @critialcloudkicker 1) Your "if we ban one word, we'll eventually ban all of them" point is a slippery slope that's presumptuous postulation at best. 2) There are plenty of other, better words you can use aside from "retarded" (e.g. ridiculous, preposterous, ludicrous, etc.) 3) If we all are in fact abiding by your rule of "don't be a dick", don't you think that deliberately saying words that you know are offensive because you're too stubborn to be sensitive is, I dunno, kinda being a dick?

  9. @mrmattimation It's alright, I've said some things here in the past I'm not proud of either. We've both grown since and are more responsible with our comedy these days.

  11. Speaking of which, don't use the word "retarded" as a pejorative here in the future.

  12. Banning a word like "retarded" isn't in any way an infringement on free speech, it's just refusing to host your insensitive garbage

  20. @tiffany I know where I am 18 is usually the age you're leaving high school and starting college, so while I don't think that's the deciding factor it does mean that the age of adulthood coincides with that big transition period pretty effectively. But it's like some of the replies to Matt's post have already said, it's really just an arbitrary number and not everyone grows at the same pace.

  26. Speaking of Boris, they apparently just recently released another collaboration with Merzbow, which I might end up checking out, but they put out so many albums in general that it's hard to keep up. I think the last record of theirs that I fully listened to was Noise back in 2014.
