(groans of increasing discomfort)

As a general rule I tend to find the people who are most vehement about being entitled to free speech are usually the ones with nothing intelligent to say.

Whenever I hear "Melvin" I just think of the band The Melvins

@mrmattimation Being a good person isn't something you are or aren't, it's more of something you actively work at every day. No one's inherently good or anything like that, the "good" people in our world are the people who make the conscious choices to be good every day, which can be very difficult lots of the time because the complicated conversations you can get into regarding the nebulousness of morality.
-
@mrmattimation Ha, "goon" is a good one.
-
@critialcloudkicker 1) Your "if we ban one word, we'll eventually ban all of them" point is a slippery slope that's presumptuous postulation at best. 2) There are plenty of other, better words you can use aside from "retarded" (e.g. ridiculous, preposterous, ludicrous, etc.) 3) If we all are in fact abiding by your rule of "don't be a dick", don't you think that deliberately saying words that you know are offensive because you're too stubborn to be sensitive is, I dunno, kinda being a dick?
-
@mrmattimation It's alright, I've said some things here in the past I'm not proud of either. We've both grown since and are more responsible with our comedy these days.
-
@rarity We need this on a plaque and hung above every social network
-
Speaking of which, don't use the word "retarded" as a pejorative here in the future.

Banning a word like "retarded" isn't in any way an infringement on free speech, it's just refusing to host your insensitive garbage
-
Yeah but I bet if someone called you a neckbeard you'd be bawling about your feelings huh

Always watching, never blinking

@rarity I surprisingly never got Twitter until late last year, but I've been using it a lot ever since
-
@rarity we T W I T T E R B O Y S now, welcome to the squad
-
@rarity Followed!
-
@rarity also follow me on twitter please
-
@rarity Oh, what's your twitter?
-
@tiffany I know where I am 18 is usually the age you're leaving high school and starting college, so while I don't think that's the deciding factor it does mean that the age of adulthood coincides with that big transition period pretty effectively. But it's like some of the replies to Matt's post have already said, it's really just an arbitrary number and not everyone grows at the same pace.
-
@awl This is a neat shot, the lake's so tranquil. You can still make out the dog/coyote too!
-
@scoot Her left arm does seem a bit too far behind her, but that might just be me being picky. They're really cute doodles, great faces in particular.
-
@tiffany There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's linguine
-
Damn, just found out Phife Dawg passed away. Rest in peace.

@ii I avoid the chans altogether, but it doesn't surprise me that terms like "cuck" are in vogue there.

Speaking of Boris, they apparently just recently released another collaboration with Merzbow, which I might end up checking out, but they put out so many albums in general that it's hard to keep up. I think the last record of theirs that I fully listened to was Noise back in 2014.

@scribus Yeah, and art ipso facto isn't necessarily a bad thing
-
@nerthos I named my cat Prince after Le Petit Prince, mostly because it's a book and character I like but also because my cat's personality as a kitten matched that of said character
-
@takeappleakenji I feel bad for anything that happened to be using the name prior to this whole fiasco
-
@nerthos That seems to be a popular name for cats.
