  1. Spots will always be a mystery to me, we got along great for over a year and she was really cool, then suddenly turned sjw over like a single month and started hating me without as much as an explanation. All I could make out of it is that she thought I hated homosexuals or something? but she never bothered asking.

  15. @strypey A digital copy has no cost of production, so paying the same amount to the author would mean the digital copy would be cheaper. If they cost the same, the only reasonable option in normal circumstances is to buy the physical copy to make the most of your money.

  16. @maiyannah @awl Yep, most pirate ships are tiny, and the few times boarding is possible is when they have taken a ship's crew as hostages, so regular soldiers would be useless, you have to use a tactical unit that's more akin to cops than soldiers.

  18. @mushi I'd advise against big brand cat food like whiskas or the like, except for the semi-medical products. They tend to have addictives in the food to keep the cats hooked in that particular product. Not sure what brands are available over there, but I generally feed mine 9lives brand food, and they have no issue switching to other brands whenever the shop doesn't have that brand. I've also fed them proplan brand food for a while back when I had one, or recently the really expensive urinary protection product that Fuzy didn't get to eat due to his sudden death; but these tend to be quite expensive. Still, having only one cat (and one cat alone doesn't eat much) I suppose it would be reasonable to go for the expensive brand. Test it for a bit and then try another brand of similar quality and see if she has issues switching. If she eats the other brand without issues, it's safe from addictives.

  21. @awl AFAIK they get ship time, just not actual sea combat most of the time.

  22. @maiyannah I thought the navy seals was a tactical force for boarding or mostly water based engagements, while the marines was a mid point between that and army, mostly to make beachheads and such from warships with naval support as they operated in land.
    Basically navy-swat vs ship-based army

  23. @awl I suppose. I actually wonder how well the USMC would perform nowadays in their original role after being in the desert for the last 15 years.

  25. @maiyannah I suppose. It's pretty counter intuitive though, as one would expect marines to be... well, ship-based infantry for sea-to-land engagements.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 20:58:58 UTC from web in context
  26. @maiyannah What I really don't get is why they're called marines if nowadays they're mostly a land-based force rather than actual marines.

  29. @moonman @maiyannah From what I've read of military communities (comics and social media comments for stuff aimed specifically at servicemen) past boot camp most will stop seeing servicemen of the opposite sex as date material knowing they're FrankerZ tier for that as they're just as bad as them in relationships and just make everything harder, so they'll behave mostly as if they were the same gender.
