why are they called sports cars anyway
is it somehow athletic to drive one? why are motor sports sports?-
@shpuld sport in this case meaning to another definition, fun or pleasure. This definition of sport doesn't seem much as used in English nowadays.

the word we have for sports doesn't really have the same definition I guess -
@shpuld a commonality in English to take more than one unrelateable meaning within one word. Usually in this case one would use the singular 'sport' to mean fun. So it's a little strange to use the plural in 'sports car', now that I notice it.

People who misuse the word 'ironic' to be 'funny' should be forced to listen to Alanis Morissette's Ironic for the rest of their lives.

@maiyannah I've also watched "sarcasm" trend from its original definition towards meaning snarky and mean-spirited. people describe themselves as sarcastic. what they really mean is that they like being assholes. it's not the same thing.

@awg @maiyannah With sarcasm I always have the image of Al Bundy. Which kinda fits both the snarky and mean-spirited.
Bonus points for describing yourself in your twitter bio as "sarcastic X-hater" (where X is the outgroup du jour). It's surprising how many people like to announce to the world they're assholes. -

If I'm honest, I don't identify my sexuality with a label. I just say something like bisexual for other peoples benefit and it makes it easier to explain that I'm attracted to both sexes. Probably why the LGBT community never felt right for me.

@scribus I'm like 2/3rds of the way to formulating a concept for a twitter bot that runs the various outspoken "Christian" members of American governments posts through nested translations and then treats the output as gospel.

Well yesterday I got back from my first bicycle tour, and despite being stormed on Wednesday night and not great weather throughout, I'd say it was a good experience. I encountered most types of road conditions you could expect, my bike handled the carrying weight rather well, and I'm not debilitated. I will have to do more tours in the future with minimal adjustments.
