Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:45:00 UTC from web
        1. @thecloakednightmare two iron maiden albums are a must-listen: Powerslave and Somewhere in Time. Also, Brave New World is an amazing album, then the rest of their greatest songs are sewn into the rest of their discography quite evenly.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:48:16 UTC from web
          1. @crusader8 judas priest made metal METAL, Black sabbath gave birth to it, yet priest raised it. Iron maiden did the babysitting every now and again.

    12. @greydragon412 I'm curious as to how we'll react to ourselves. Ooh! I-deee-aaahhhh! We should all get into a voice chat at the end of each week a chapter is written and gauge each other's reactions.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:12:12 UTC from web
    15. @greydragon412 Eeyup. No offense, but I'll NEVER understand people's attraction to metal. :/ Or whatever the technically correct term for that is (since I don't want to "generalize").

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:15:07 UTC from web
      1. @silverbrony it's loud and stompy. Gives me energy.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:16:12 UTC from web
      2. @silverbrony And I'll never understand people's attraction to Pop. It's always the same, overly repetitive and in 9 out of 10 cases about sex. What do you listen to if I may ask? :P

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:17:07 UTC from Choqok
        1. @omni Pop is catchy and up-beat. The lyrics don't matter to most people listening to it.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:20:30 UTC from web
          1. @yodelerty Rap. Ftw.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:21:21 UTC from web
            1. @derps As with all forms of music, it depends on the artist.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:22:12 UTC from web
              1. @yodelerty True.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:22:48 UTC from web
          2. @yodelerty I listen to Emoticon/Furries In A Blender or Casey LaLonde if I want upbeat, but I find pop to just be plain disgusting. As in, literally disgusting, makes me feel ill =/

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:23:04 UTC from Choqok
            1. @omni Like I said before, the quality of pop music is dependent on the artist performing it. That being said, I don't have any pure "pop" songs in my music library, but I do have a bunch of pop-rock.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:28:16 UTC from web
        2. @commodorecrazycommanderofthe1stroyalbrigadeofspiceracksandcheese Mmm...so is club music. >_> @omni A lot of things. My favorite music is Christian Contemporary, but close seconds are Country and most Electronic (club/dance/house/etc.). I also like specific raps and modern classical (Violins~ <3). I'm a really lyric-based listener and so when I can't make out the words because it sounds like a demon beast is roaring them in my ear...well, you get the idea. I don't really like a lot of rock simply because of the use of the drummer's cymbals. Just sounds like noise to me. :/

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:21:38 UTC from web
          1. @silverbrony Funny, I always considered Merzbow to be noise :P # #

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:25:59 UTC from Choqok
          2. @silverbrony and you're only weird because you don't understand - it's totally cool if you don't like metal! It's just important you understand

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:29:37 UTC from web
      3. @silverbrony I think by this point "metal" is too broad of a term to use quite like that... Not to say you're wrong to dislike it, that's just like your opinion man.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:20:05 UTC from web
        1. @scribus +1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k0f-ZxRJ_A is Metal, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqRmk1diDEI as well.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:21:50 UTC from Choqok
        2. @scribus I completely understand. :P @greydragon42: That Axenstar song is bautiful...

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:24:07 UTC from web
      4. @silverbrony lol you're weird, but I can save you from that. This is why people are attracted to metal: 1. Pop lolwut 2. rap doesn't communicate to them at all 3. country lolwut 4. radio rock getting close but seems to sing about crap I don't give a pony about 5. techno/trance/electronica/etc "so wait if I hear 1 minute of the song I've heard the whole song?" 6. metal "by the gods of greyskull, demons be damned and prophecies praised!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OatAcPIyPyg This is my alarm every morning

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:28:37 UTC from web
        1. @crusader8 None of those apply to me. I just have a very broad taste in music.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:30:05 UTC from web
        2. @crusader8 Is it sad that I like every single thing mentioned there? As far as I'm concerned each genre has it's gems.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:30:21 UTC from web
          1. @minti Agreed whole heartedly!

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:31:19 UTC from web
          2. @minti best rap song ever is by Blak Liquid called "I drink Hurricane" but it has to be his remix, not his original. It's about people wasting their money on expensive alcohol but for less than 2 dollars you can grab a malt liquor

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:33:26 UTC from web
          3. @minti I can't listen since I'm in class, but I'm down for just about every genre.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:33:30 UTC from web
        3. @crusader8 You're silly~ :P And at least come up with legitimate reasons next time. :3 And yes, 99.9% of all electronic songs without lyrics are exactly that. xD

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:31:47 UTC from web
          1. @silverbrony my reasons were legit - I can't understand the purpose of pop music's formulation to save my life, hence lolwut, and with music the music has to sound good AND the song has to speak to me. If the lyrics are about taking the pickup truck to town (not all country but a helluvalot), or about trying to win back a girl (pop), or about being the most street and having a gun to back you up (not all rap but a helluvalot), or about trying to win back a girl (rock), I just can't get into it. Music I like, I do because it champions my perspective of the world. Love and hate come and go, the vernacular changes, and sounds themselves change over the years, but anger (metal) is forever. If i'm going to listen to a song, it best be about slaying demons, or in Iron Maiden's case, personalized perspectives of written history.

    16. @greydragon412 ..? What Genre is that?

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:23:03 UTC from web
      1. @minti According to the tags it is Power Metal, which it somewhat sounds like (at least with the vocal style)

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:24:00 UTC from Choqok
        1. @omni Heh, yeah I looked at the tags and was like "What.". Totally did not expect this to be power metal at all.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:25:32 UTC from web
    17. @greydragon412 But but! I like fast :( xD

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:25:43 UTC from web
    18. @greydragon412 Or maybe viking metal, or some of this ogre metal, or any other "seriously, dude, there's only one band doing it, it doesn't need its own genre" metal. <.< heh Actually, I guess there are multiple viking metal bands, but it all seems like power metal with a focused topic to me.

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:25:50 UTC from web
    19. @greydragon412 Heh, yeah, thought so. The other video is fun. :P I like it too. I knew saying "metal" was way too broad. xD

    20. @greydragon412 When I hear power metal, I think this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I54AtTNkIXk

    26. @greydragon412 I don't care too much for metal, so I've never heard of these bands. But I'll look them up. :)

Thursday, 22-Mar-12 17:45:56 UTC from web
    27. @greydragon412 I would say that's a narrow definition, because pop is only simple in the sense that they keep the beat simple so it's easy to follow. There are dozens of number 1 hits over the years that bring on the unexpected in the song formula, but they still keep it 4/4 with simple drums so that it's easy listening on the radio.
