@yodelerty I do too! The Beatles are awesome! I forgot to say mine! I like rock, and anything by Owl City, tobymac, switchfoot, the plain white t's, Monty python, Jason mraz, and any song that's been Ponified.

@thecloakednightmare I guess here's a list of my favourite bands, to give you a better idea of my musical taste: The Beatles (and any of their solo music), Billy Talent, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Journey, The Killers, Oasis, Patrick Stump, Queen, Rise Against, Sum 41, and Weird Al.

@thecloakednightmare two iron maiden albums are a must-listen: Powerslave and Somewhere in Time. Also, Brave New World is an amazing album, then the rest of their greatest songs are sewn into the rest of their discography quite evenly.

@yodelerty I listen to Emoticon/Furries In A Blender or Casey LaLonde if I want upbeat, but I find pop to just be plain disgusting. As in, literally disgusting, makes me feel ill =/

@omni Like I said before, the quality of pop music is dependent on the artist performing it. That being said, I don't have any pure "pop" songs in my music library, but I do have a bunch of pop-rock.

My favorite music is Christian Contemporary, but close seconds are Country and most Electronic (club/dance/house/etc.). I also like specific raps and modern classical (Violins~ <3). I'm a really lyric-based listener and so when I can't make out the words because it sounds like a demon beast is roaring them in my ear...well, you get the idea. I don't really like a lot of rock simply because of the use of the drummer's cymbals. Just sounds like noise to me. :/

@silverbrony my reasons were legit - I can't understand the purpose of pop music's formulation to save my life, hence lolwut, and with music the music has to sound good AND the song has to speak to me. If the lyrics are about taking the pickup truck to town (not all country but a helluvalot), or about trying to win back a girl (pop), or about being the most street and having a gun to back you up (not all rap but a helluvalot), or about trying to win back a girl (rock), I just can't get into it. Music I like, I do because it champions my perspective of the world. Love and hate come and go, the vernacular changes, and sounds themselves change over the years, but anger (metal) is forever. If i'm going to listen to a song, it best be about slaying demons, or in Iron Maiden's case, personalized perspectives of written history.

@greydragon412 I would say that's a narrow definition, because pop is only simple in the sense that they keep the beat simple so it's easy to follow. There are dozens of number 1 hits over the years that bring on the unexpected in the song formula, but they still keep it 4/4 with simple drums so that it's easy listening on the radio.
