      1. @pony Equestria's world was made up by humans.

        1. @pony So.... That's a "no," then?

          1. @scribus We're lower level intelligences, but I'd consider humans intelligent still.. Even though we're like, really really really really insignificantly intelligent compared to the highest intelligence.

    2. @snowcone It comes from the hypothesis that there are infinite alternate realities or parallel universes.

    3. @snowcone Interesting. I like learning about M theory though I'm afraid I might not fully understand it. What defines the number of possibilities then, according to M theory?

Saturday, 05-Jul-14 17:36:24 UTC from web
    4. @snowcone The discussion at the time assumed that there could be a universe filled with nothing just as likely as there could be one filled purely with chocolate, and the laws of physics would be entirely different. It seems that what was being proposed then doesn't fit with M theory at all, but that even M theory/laws would have been completely different in an infinite number of alternate realities.

    5. @snowcone Is this assuming the size of the universe to be infinite or finite? If it's infinite then there may be infinite particles, so wouldn't there then be infinite possibliities?

    7. @snowcone Oh certainly there's no evidence of alternate physics in alternate universes. We can only see this universe so it makes sense that we'd only know this universe's laws and accept them as constant and absolute.. because they are, in this reality anyway. The idea of truely infinite possibilities is purely conceptual, and others (not me) were saying that, if such an idea were reality, that the underpinnings of the universe and its laws, and M theory itself could, by chance, unravel at any moment.

    8. @snowcone ooh

Saturday, 05-Jul-14 17:52:39 UTC from web
    9. @snowcone Yeah, you get the idea, though it sounds like maybe you disagree with it. It has less to do with science than imagination. I'm not confusing the hypothesis of "infinite possibilities" with anything scientifically supported. Personally, I only really care about this reality, and think that dwelling on alternate realities is useless. I'd much prefer to make this reality what I want it to be, or as close as possible (including appreciating what I have here already). It was only necessary for me to make that counterpoint I mentioned because everypony was like, "lol order."
