I don't know about you plebs, but, I like school food... Except school Macaroni, that grapes is plastic... I swear..

@metaltao It depends on the school really. The sandwiches in my cafeteria are premade and sit in the fridge all day and these really weird sauces that taste really sour and make the bread all soggy. 0/10 would not eat again. My school cafeteria has some damn good cookies though.

@metaltao School food is intentionally designed to be cheap, to feed a mass group of people. Cheap = Low class. Low class = pleb. Therefore, liking school food makes you a pleb.

@northernnarwhal Yeah... School lunch is murdock, mainly because the governments give them very little, the schools that can't maintain their own school cafeteria foods due to underfunding, receive $1.35 per meal. PER MEAL.... Hly papayas, and that means they sometime, no most of the time given them food that will feed them, but, make them lethargic and slow for the rest of the day. It is bad, in fact, what you eat for lunch is directly linked to your output of work.

@northernnarwhal Yes, they are, but, I am also talking about schools that are receiving low test scores, so, they get punished by getting their funding cut, and leave the students under whelmed with possibilities. Ib every doleing aspect, from food to books, to teachers...

@metaltao You know $1.35 is more than enough to cover the expenses of a good meal, if you have proper logistics, right?

@metaltao My school has a really high student average though. It's a good school. The cafeteria sandwiches just suck.

@nerthos Yeah, but, really, they end up having to get even less when they get even lower scores. But, I don't think we should still give them so little. They need good food some times. And, the food is fattening at a frightening rate.

@metaltao I guess the solution would be having a school regime that doesn't require kids to eat at school. Over here food, except for a few schools, is entirely up to the kid's parents, wether they send him food or give him money to buy something.

@nerthos Lunch is there for a good reason, it increases productivity and, increases the chance to socialize and study. A good meal equals a happy brain, a brain that is hungry will focus more on basic instincts such as thinking about food or taste, or just simply spacing out. And, thinking DOES use up A LOT of energy, problem solving is taxing on the mind. Our brains alone use like, 20-35% of our calories or something. It is crazy, when you aren't properly fed, you are not going to be at your best. (I feel like I am starting to sound a bit arrogant here, sorry.)

@metaltao I know all of this, but if the issue is the school being bad at providing meals, the obvious solution is to simply remove that obligation from the school and instead having a hour long break for kids to simply go somewhere else and get food.

@nerthos I'm allowed to leave my school during my lunch break. All things considered I can go wherever I want during lunch as long as I'm back for fourth period.

@nerthos @nerthos That just replaces the problem, Some kids can't afford food, they may be poor. Our schools, and, well, all schools have a program for lunch where they give out food to those who can't afford food at home or money to by food, and, starve, it gives them a chance to eat for the week on a regular basis. I know quite a few friends who sometimes have their only meal be a school lunch for the week. If they don't eat at lunch, they starve at home for how little there is to eat.

@metaltao As heartless as it may sound I don't think schools should take care of the food needs of kids. That's the duty of their families. And if they cannot mantain them, parents shouldn't have kids in the first place.

@northernnarwhal I had a hour and a half, and later one hour long break between morning and afternoon blocks to do whatever I wanted.

@northernnarwhal I sort of have a 2 hour lunch but it's really more of a 2 hour gap between classes where I can't really leave campus because it would take too long to get back

@bakasenpai I honestly don't need more than 5-10 minutes to have lunch so I usually just read or finish work I need to do.

@nerthos Then where should they go? To the damned and sometimes terribly unethical orphanages? WHich, themselves are underfunded and overcrowded? Foster homes? Which, are also effective and obscenely bad at helping kids? And, where would you move them? Or put them? They can't fore see every consequence there is. They had a kid and got papayas on by fate or what ever, It is not heartless, it makes sense, but, not now, not for EVERYONE, damn, not all people are stupid. And, people have kids to not only give meaning to their lives, but, to raise some one and be part of something greater then themselves instead of dying some lonely and terrible life, they have them to give some one ELSE meaning in life. Also, separating kids from family is bad not only mentally, but physiologically, teens who are separated from their parents are 40% more likely to become a parent when they are a teen, and for girls specifically, they are going to end up going through puberty on average, eleven months SOONER.

@northernnarwhal Mine was shortened when they changed the whole time structure of the school, switching from 7:40 to 12:10 and then 13:30 to 17:30 to 7:20 to 11:50 and 13:00 to 17:25. Night shift was 17:45 to 21:45 when I did it but no idea how it was before.

@nerthos My school has 3rd period broken up into sections A, B, and C. A is 10:55-11:35, B is 11:35-12:15, and C is 12:15-12:55. Currently I have astronomy during A and B and lunch during C.

@metaltao That should be managed by a state organization unrelated to the ministry of education or however it's called over there. Also the solution to teen pregnancy is just forcing teens who lay eachother and end up with kids to marry eachother, be legally treated as adults, and make them own up to their BS.

@northernnarwhal Mine was three shift, some days I had one, some days I had two or three, and some classes were in another shift and lasted two or three hours instead of 4-

@nerthos @nerthos Yes, but, may I try to push this weird idea that I have been entertaining for a while? It comes with a LOT of exceptions, but, I think you have heard of it, "Is it wrong to force people to do things they don't want to do?". Now, I don't have this idea to my own ideology or life. But, it certainly sounds interesting, I know for sure, it doesn't fit with this certain situation. I do agree people should stay and own up. Marry? Probably not, but, they should be there for THE GREATEST Majority of the time. And, be kind, nice, and care. Sincerely. Not insincerely, which, most teens do, they do own up. VERY FEW don't.

@metaltao It is not wrong if they screwed up and what you're forcing them to do is a response to that mistake. Marriage would work both as a deterrent, and also would ensure the kid woul be raised in an actual family.

@nerthos But, when you force, they won't actually give them care, They should own up, but, they should also have some kind of other caring guardian of some kind, to filll in the emotional void that MIGHT be there for a few if the parents are unkind or lazy.

@metaltao I'll be blunt: If I cared about or had any desire to find ways to solve emotional voids and lack of love in kids I would be a clown.

@metaltao We can't really get to much of a conclusion, because we care about different things. You care about ensuring equal opportunities for kids, and I care about not burdening the educational system so that the kids who have a chance of raising themselves above the average are allowed to.

@nerthos ??? I was talking about food, not education levels, I think we should focus learning and class and grade not on age, but on some kind of understanding level, if that makes sense.

@metaltao What I meant is that schools should focus specifically on teaching and nothing else. The rest is up to each kid and family.
