  1. How is the history of King Henry VIII taught in schools in England these days, I wonder.

      1. @ceruleanspark It's not? Huh. He's pretty much the reason divorce is a common thing so that's actually pretty shocking.

        1. @zeldatra We don't really get much specific history instruction unless we choose to study it in higher education. Otherwise it's a very vague set of lessons about the various eras and wars with no real investigation.

          1. @ceruleanspark Oh, that's way different from how we do it here.

            1. @zeldatra It's probably why British patriotism is basically non-existent. There's a lot of amazing british inventors, leaders generals and philanthropists we literally never touch on.

                1. @matthew I enjoyed it. Chose to take it for two extra years.

                2. @matthew Its not boring its just you dont get to study 'British history' in any real depth. A bit of Tudors and Stuart's, but lots of Egypt, Rome, Bit of Ancient Greece. Even if you doHistory at GCSE its mainly the cold war (well not even that just the Cuban Missile Crisis).
I am of course ignoring WWII which is brought up at every opportunity.

              2. @ceruleanspark I took a British Literature class last year and a lot of my history lessons the last two years focused on Great Britain. It's a shame you don't talk about it more because there's a lot of interesting stuff.

        1. @vcgriffin I think Henery the Eighth posits the opposite scenario, with the lead singer being the eighth old man?
