    1. @metaltao http://www.diariopopular.com.ar/notas/232029-consternacion-mundial-minions-nazis doesn't top the conspiracy theories about minions being based off nazi divers

      1. @nerthos you know that the Minion's movie specifically says that the Minions went into hibernation from B.C. or something until the 1960's, specifically so they'd avoid the sticky issue that if the Minions were around they totally would have worked for Hitler

                  1. @awl I will admit I'm biased, but I'm no tankie. I truly believe that body count aside, Hitler's actions and philosophy definitely outmatched the likes of anyone we've ever seen in terms of pure vileness.

                          2. @nerthos I might have your location wrong. But the Falkland war, although not long, harsh, nor something were a lot of civilians were involved was rather... Nasty... for just a 2 country war. Only using the statistics of death's in both armies as guideance I'd wager it about one twelfth of WW2 in severity, but again, just 2 involved countries. And there were quite a few PoW camps... I really doubt there are much more really clean-handed countries though. Then again it's kind of impossible to do any measuring in the first place

                            1. @critialcloudkicker The falklands war was started as an attempt to remain in power by an USA-backed dictatorship, over a territory within the Argentinean sea unlawfully occupied by the UK after either killing or shipping off the original population in the 1800s. I don't feel strongly for that war in any way, but it's not really something that can be pinned down on the ccountry.

Wednesday, 22-Jul-15 02:01:25 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos The population's blame in that was supporting and elderly, incapable and dying Juan Perón, facilitating the dictatorship's beginning.

Wednesday, 22-Jul-15 02:04:19 UTC from web
                              2. @nerthos Well, war's are never really fought or gone to with 100% of the people's backing it seems. Just a small majority of any party and generals behind closed doors will do that. It sorta does not help whether you're with a nationality that did something though. I mean, the Baby Boomer generation ( and perhaps most of Generation X ) still despise germany in their hearts, despise only like 5% of nazi germany's populus being nazi's. Point is that judgement is in the eye of the beholder. And I am pretty sure I could find some smut on Argentina's past if I read through a good book. But it would be uttermost silly to hold a grudge against someone because of what their country did. Or in reverse ... Still it's only natural to vilify your foes, and at this point I am pretty sure noone wants to go for tea with ISIS. Because everyone seems in agreeance that "they are the bad guy". Just like what my uncle ( a few times over ) said about the Falkland War.

Wednesday, 22-Jul-15 02:30:19 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                                1. @critialcloudkicker Oh, sure. I'm not a patriot by a long shot. I can pinpoint a lot of bad stuff, but it was mostly parts of the population against other parts of the population over politial differences, not so much against other countries. I don't hold grudges against people over their nationality either, it's pretty silly to do so. I'd rather make friends in many places than enemies.

Wednesday, 22-Jul-15 03:10:35 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos I mean, as we speak the country is torn in two main political currents that show undying hate for eachother.

                                  2. @nerthos funny annecdote. I was saying to my friends how we would be colonizing celestial bodies if we had just half of earth's military spending and put them in things like NASA and stuff... And then it kinda escalated to " yeah, they probably would too if they found nazi's on the moon or something". And then one guy showed up with a certain movie

                          1. @awl perhaps it's just red-tinted glasses for me, as it were. Maybe it's because those behind communism today are working for meaningful change, while those behind Hitler today are just reactionary rednecks who murder black people, and that's changing my perception. It's a meaningless comparison anyway really

Also, what is funny is when someone online tells someone they suck and when they get an obviously enraged or negative reaction, they try to act "civil" and tell the person to shut up instead of apologizing for denouncing somebody and not hearing them out even if they are mad.

And, Again, I see that example a lot here. Mostly in my family of all places. And, I have been guilty of that when I was younger.
