@minti Other IRC channels (and servers) are also available. :P (Well, in my case, at least. I would assume Red also has more than 1 channel open in his client, but none of the others overlap with my selection.)

@minti Well, I guess technically it was two things, though mostly the first one. Those being Fallout: Equestria (I started reading it way back when I had only been here for a week, took a break to clear my head after the big Fgnoyr Gjragl-Avar [va jbeqf fb vg trgf ebg13'q] reveal, and it just kinda turned into a several-month break), and actually rewriting some very old code that may or may not be relevant to my usage of this site, depending on where I go next with it.

@bitshift Oh. I totally don't even think I've gotten to that yet. I stopped reading around the time they zrrg erq-rlr va crefba sbe gur svefg gvzr, and have yet to open the file again due to lazy. xD And oooh, coding. I've been meaning to look at !MintRefresh's code and recode it from scratch but bluh.

@toksyuryel I'd prefer to do some solo stuff for a while so my gear isn't quite so pitifully inferior to that of the people who didn't take several days off. (But yeah, it's safe to say I'll at least be on there in some way today.)

@bitshift It's less fun to solo and it won't improve your gear any faster than partying; it might even improve it slower.

@redenchilada That's only a little over a year old (less if you only count from the latest release instead of the first), so no, it's not that - it's not old enough for the qualifier in that sentence to apply (still procrastinating like a champion on that, but at least it's not something I'd have to take a day or three off for when I do get off my bananas).

@pvtflutters ...that's complicated. On the one hand, it really is an amazing story. On the other hand, it gets _very_ dark before it gets light again (thankfully, it does), so if you prefer your stories to have a lighter tone... it's probably not the best choice. (Also, it's looooooong, but you probably knew that already.)

@toksyuryel The other thing is that I sorely need to do more quest stuff so I actually have some experience (in the non-game-metric sense), and know what I'm doing - even setting aside the expected ones in the danger room, I was dying far more than I should have been. And I'd rather not put the rest of you through the tedium of the low-level quests when they're just so I can get better.

@redenchilada C++ is... an odd beast. It has its positives (it would've died out if it didn't), but it has enough pitfalls and traps that I certainly wouldn't use it on a multi-person project, unless that project had very strictly enforced coding discipline. (That and my usage of C++ is more like "C with objects and constructors/destructors" than the full C++ experience, so the code would start to look pretty weird as soon as someone started using proper C++ in it.)

@toksyuryel Jython is actually pretty neat - all the sanity of Python with the ability to get at Java-only libraries.

@pvtflutters Almost entirely the latter. There _is_ blood and a little gore, but (with a few very brief exceptions, which are still story-relevant, rather than there just because) they are definitely not on the level of a "gore fic".

@techdisk42 Oh, idk then, I might check it out. The thing is, is that all I've read recently has been dark then. Rainbow factory, cupcakes, ect. I was wanting something that's not so... bloody. Any recommendations?

@pvtflutters Well, in this case the blood and gore and stuff is kept to a very tolerable minimum, and not just there to scare you. And it ends on a much much MUCH lighter note than either rainbow factory or cupcakes. Ponies die, but its handled well. I still recomend it.

@bitshift I might give it a try, although recently all I've read have been gore fics. (Rainbow Factory, cupcakes, and another that I can't think of :P) so I may want something lighter.

@pvtflutters Like I said, it is way lighter than those - and the small amount of "gore" that is there isn't gratuitous, and certainly isn't the purpose of the fic.

@pvtflutters It's more than a few hours long. That's not to say you _shouldn't_ read it (because you should), just that you're gonna need more than just a few hours to get through the whole thing, no matter how fast you read.

@redenchilada Actually, my whole collision code is messed up in the first place :/ Checks each and every active playfield object for each call, so that could could literally do 4,000 checks in the right circumstances. :x

@pvtflutters Well, I read the whole thing over the past three days, but that was with me taking 6-8 solid hours each day for it, so... 24 hours total is certainly not out of the question.

@thatonepony On the one hand, I really have grown attached to the FO:E universe, but on the other hand, the conclusion of the story itself felt like a pretty good capstone, so I'm not sure other fics (especially since now I look into it, these don't seem to be by the same author) would... feel right (to put it really badly, because I can't think of a better way of putting it).
