@Omni I thought I could at least /try/ to download the drivers I need to Linuxify my laptop. Where should I start? :e

@derpyshy You don't download drivers to install Linux :P But, well, at any rate, what do you want to do exactly? Just try Linux on your laptop? Wubi should work, at least to try Ubuntu or an official variant of it. Here is the link: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/windows-installer, and here is the manual (if you need it, you probably don't): http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/install-ubuntu-with-windows. I will recommend you to choose "Xubuntu" as desktop environment in the installer, as your system is probably too weak to run the default Ubuntu interface (Unity) well. Then again, just search around for the different versions to see which one you like best :P (Maybe you already made a choice?)

@derpyshy Backing things up is always a good idea, but because Wubi doesn't even need to format at all the risk of losing system files is near-zero. Still, you should always back up important files regularly :P

@omni ah. When this is done, can I still open/see my folders? I'm pretty sure OS doesn't have anything to do with folder-format :/

@derpyshy Actually, it does, the OS defines which file format you use (Windows uses NTFS, other OSses generally use something else), however, Ubuntu supports NTFS as well.

@derpyshy Wubi won't give you the same performance a real installation will give you, but Xubuntu should be slightly less heavy. If you need even more performance and don't care about how your system looks, you could give Lubuntu a try.

@derpyshy Then you want to stay away from Lubuntu, it looks like a cheap Windows 2000 clone :P Xubuntu looks a bit nicer, while still using relatively little resources. There are distributions which use even less, but I don't expect you to know much about installing properly :P

@derpyshy Partitioning, formatting the partition and installing the OS on there. It's not hard, really, it's just scary to most because if you screw up you will lose files.

@derpyshy Internet Explorer: Yes, but that is pure evil anyway. And Firefox, Iceweasel, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Konquerer and Lynx are excellent alternatives.

@derpyshy Then you might actually have been able to guess what it was saying, since I gather the two languages are slightly similar. :P (Also, I corrected the language while still in the initial setup, and yet it still gave me Norwegian date/time text until I noticed it was doing that and changed that setting too. Gotta love it when Windows does that.)

@mushi I never really bothered with the English verbs too much. When I write, I KNOW what form rhe verb is in.
