            1. @kamikaze I tried vegetarianism for a week or two and then kind of lost interest. Lately I've been trying to cut out carbs.

              1. @pony I'm just being a parasprite. I know people won't become vegetarians not even for good reasons like stopping global warming and world hunger.

                1. @kamikaze If ending world hunger is what you want, then cannibalism is a better solution.

                  1. @nerthos No that would lead to more breeding to meet the demand.

                    1. @kamikaze Meh, not if you make vasectomies a legal requirement after having two children. As a matter of fact, I would make that a law if I could, because that would be an easy way of stopping overpopulation whilst still letting people have families. With two children per couple, the population can't grow, but it won't drastically drop either.

                      1. @nerthos Isn't Japan like that?

                        1. @anarchycarcino I don't know. China is somewhat like that.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:47:17 UTC from web
                          1. @nerthos Like, after you have a kid or two the Chinese Government is like; "No."

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:49:21 UTC from web
                            1. @anarchycarcino Yup. It's a good thing actually, even if people complain about it.

                              1. @nerthos It's totally a good thing, because they are populated as dole and kids are the worst ever.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:51:25 UTC from web
                                1. @anarchycarcino Yup. It should be done in more places.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:59:51 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos Totes.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 04:00:40 UTC from web
                      2. @nerthos Well, we have an average birth rate below 2. And it doesn't need any methods that tempt me to invoke Godwin.

                2. @kamikaze we can't really stop global warming.. ice ages and interglacial ages are a normal part of the earth's cycle. we can however slow the end of our current ice age and help the environment in other ways by boycotting corn-fed cattle.

                  1. @pony Actually we can. We're probably the first species on this planet who can make a conscious decision about this. And for some reason we're deciding to turn this planet into a more volatile environment.

                    1. @kamikaze Look at the bright side, we can more easily enjoy raging storms.

                    2. @kamikaze If you ask me, while we should take care of our planet, Global Warming can't really be stopped.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:52:55 UTC from web
                      1. @zeldatra (Mostly because you can't stop what hasn't started, but that's beside the point.)

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 03:55:30 UTC from web
                      2. @zeldatra Not with that attitude.

Tuesday, 15-Jan-13 04:12:50 UTC from web
                    3. @kamikaze an interglacial age won't make the planet more volatile, but water levels will rise and we'll eventually have to migrate due to changes in fertility etc. Professionals have tracked our temperatures as falling over the last little while despite greenhouse gasses. It is VERY unlikely that the earth will warm (greenhouse gasses or not) quickly enough to cause any great catastrophe, but coastal cities will eventually be swallowed up as the caps melt.
