Why is this guy treating everyone without AdBlock like they're in a third world country? It's literally waiting 5-30 seconds for a video to load, at most.

@mastertdi It's funny because ad revenue is a terrible way to make money. I don't think I could pay for my parking with the money I've made on ads

@ceruleanspark I'm not going to pretend I'm well versed in what ads accomplish, but I dunno, I guess on a larger scale it's gotta do something, if content creators are so against it.

@mastertdi even if I put a huge ass interstitial that played sound and was unskippable smack in the middle of RDN's timeline, even if you guys didn't all leave in disgust, I'd still make less than a living wage

@ceruleanspark The difference is that RDN isn't a high-profile website that gets millions of users a day. Of course ads wouldn't be profitable for you. There are people, however, who make a comfortable living off of ad revenue, so obviously it's a system that works.

@ceruleanspark But Reddit doesn't gain revenue from people just staring at the ads. You're missing my point. It doesn't work for everybody. I sure as hell can't make enough money in video ad revenue to support myself. But those people who actually are able to make a living on that kind of stuff are getting shafted by this AdBlock campaign.

@zeldatra The truth is that it's who your ad contract is with that matters. Hits will open that gate for you, but you've gotta keep it up and not do anything to dole them off if you want to keep it open.
