  1. @nixter Pretty much everything except running software for another platform (and we can even do that a bit, but not more than a bit)

  2. @unhipdruid Because Microsoft kept telling everyone it's much better than OpenGL. VALVe kinda proves the opposite with their early Linux ports of games like TF2. Now if only ATI and Nvidia could make good graphic card drivers.

  3. @unhipdruid Gaming works fine under Linux. I do game, but I only have a few games (Minetest, Red Eclipse, Xonotic, Vore Tournament).

  4. @ceruleanspark Must be Backtrack Linux (at least, that's the closest we can get).

  5. @nixter I think GNU/Linux is pretty damn good, but you need to be more precise with what you want. There is no "best OS". There is only a "best OS for this specific job".

  9. @unhipdruid The real bottleneck of any system is always PEBKAC. Those errors, which pop up pretty much all the time, really hurt the system's efficiency.

  10. @nixter You're better off lowering the graphic quality.

  11. @unhipdruid Well, that's quite a difference from my cheap PC.

  12. @unhipdruid You people and your insane amounts of RAM. What's wrong with 2GB?

  13. @unhipdruid Who needs a mouse? I could survive without one :P

  14. @unhipdruid Define "proper desktop"

  15. @widget pacman. But I did remove it. Also used --no-save to remove the configuration settings, manually removed configuration, everything, but it stays a mess =/

  16. @widget sudo: apt-get: command not found

  17. @neurario I'm pretty fine. Just realized that I should probably support Logical Disorder, one of my favorite bands of which I downloaded 10 albums for free. His stuff is pretty amazing: http://logicaldisorder.bandcamp.com/album/good-and-evil

  18. @rms Well that's quite disappointing. I was actually planning on buying something from them, but seems that is not going to happen anymore.

  19. @nerthos Which is what I don't do. No, I look at them, look at the packaging, then rip them and put them in my... closet-like thingy and never really look at them again.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 22:26:06 UTC from web in context
  20. @neurario Morning you! o,o

  21. @bowandlyre No clue which game, but okay :P

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 22:25:04 UTC from web in context
  22. @nerthos You can stare at them and be happy without it being much better than a digital download.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 22:23:19 UTC from web in context
  23. @bowandlyre Oh well, I'm reasonably stable so sure, tell me.

  24. @bowandlyre Do I even want to know?

  25. @scribus You may be sudomasochist. Perhaps you should try Gentoo.

  26. @omni That's only a half truth. I always want PulseAudio to crash so ALSA can take it over. For some stupid reason, uninstalling PulseAudio actually doesn't properly uninstall it and EVERYTHING breaks. So now I'm just trying to forcefully crash PulseAudio so ALSA can play instead. It works mostly, but not for Gnash, so I have to download my videos from YouTube and play them in mplayer.

  27. @ceruleanspark If only my audio system wasn't a complete mess based on the hope that non-functioning systems crash so another system which does work can take over the job I would listen to look where they were like, but I don't want to risk my audio system breaking if I pause my music player. Yes, I am actually that bad with computers.

  28. @ceruleanspark Which band are we talking about?

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 21:54:45 UTC from web in context
  29. @ceruleanspark Oh, cool. Music sounds best on low-quality outdated equipment. Definitely way better than those high fidelity systems we have nowadays. Good luck finding a cassette player!
