  1. @deziac It bothers me if I have too little tabs open. But if I use tab groups under Firefox I can easily manage hundreds of tabs. (I actually use GNUzilla IceCat and IceWeasel, but I just call them Firefox as they're practically the same and people at least know Firefox)

  2. So, downgraded from Linux-libre 3.7.1-2 to Linux-libre 3.6.10. The first time EVER I've had to downgrade my kernel, but I don't like getting a kernel panic when doing nothing more than clicking a link or starting a game.

  3. @deziac I had like... 40 tabs of bands that I still had to check out in my list, and now I'll never figure out which bands that were Q.Q

  4. So, I just lost ALL my Firefox tabs. That's just absolutely terrific. It's not like I was keeping them because I was going to use them or so. No, of course not.

  5. @deziac Oh, I must've misunderstood you :x

  6. @deziac Well, that kinda sucks. Sleep well though! (Pro-tip, click the "reply button instead of typing my nickname")

  7. @deziac Seeing how I play most of those games, tell me if you're having fun with one of them, or just want to be less lonely (especially Vore Tournament literally has no players), I'd love to join you! (assuming I still can, Christmas soon and then spending almost two weeks with my owner)

  8. @deziac Ah, I see. Well, that definitely doesn't apply to me then :P Still, thanks for the explanation!

  9. @deziac I just looked at your tumblr, by the way, and I'd wonder if you could define the term "Gray-Asexual" to me as I'm stuck in this weird position of being both bisexual and asexual (long story) and was wondering what the "Gray" prefix meant.

  10. @deziac If you don't mind a lack of graphics, Nethack (which you can download from idkwhere or you could telnet into games.libreplanet.org) or, the more new-player friendly Brogue (https://sites.google.com/site/broguegame/), could be interesting for you on the RPG side. Or check here: https://libregamewiki.org/ (though I haven't played most of those games so I can't vouch for their quality.

  11. @deziac Well, if you like Minecraft, but don't like spending money, we have Minetest (http://minetest.net/). If you want, you can join me on games.libreplanet.org. More the shooter type? Something quick? Red Eclipse (http://www.redeclipse.net/) is, with the exception of a few textures, FLOSS, but still completely free in monetary sense. Want something which is a tad bit more like the old Quake games? Xonotic (http://www.xonotic.org/ - forked from Nexuiz) or OpenArena (http://www.openarena.ws/smfnews.php - #) could be interesting for you. Have strange interests? Want to play a "shooter" in which you play a furry who has to eat other furries? We have Vore Tournament (http://sourceforge.net/projects/voretournament/ - #), of which I haven't checked if the textures are "free as in freedom", but they are "free as in no-cost", for that. Something else? Tell me what kind of game you want to play!

  12. @deziac All games I play are free in both senses of the word. FLOSS, as we like to call it.

  13. @omni @deziac Should've added a :P smiley there, because I don't mind it but it sounds like I do.

  15. @deziac There are cool games for computers as well? Maybe I can recommend you something?

  16. @mushi I don't even.

  17. @fortecadenza Well, at very least it should be quick. LXDE is one of the most lightweight desktop environments we have. I hope your parents will be able to use it.

  18. @mushi I guess it could be different in their world or so?

  23. And suddenly, YouTube sound works again. Congratulations, @omni, you've managed to make a Linux system which is less reliable than a Windows system. This would be funny if it weren't so sad.

  24. @broniebrown I was pretty sure that would happen. But I'm not complaining :P

  25. @mushi @broniebrown As widget told me, that's not a convenience feature. It's merely there for those who forget to use the spoiler code.

  26. @rio Did something bad happen?

Sunday, 23-Dec-12 11:14:17 UTC from MuSTArDroid in context
  27. @fortecadenza Okay, so we obviously need something which looks like Windows. That leaves us with KDE (which looks like Vista but has way more settings), LXDE (which looks like Windows 2000) or possibly Cinnamon. For KDE I would recommend the KDE edition of Linux Mint, for LXDE I would recommend Lubuntu and for Cinnamon I would recommend the standard Linux Mint with Cinnamon. I would recommend looking KDE, LXDE and Cinnamon up on Wikipedia and decide which you think is best, you can probably decide that a tad bit better than me. And even if you choose wrong, you can always install another Desktop Environment so it's not a big problem if you choose wrong at first.

  28. @redenchilada That is actually pretty cool (the command, not my description)

  29. @nerthos ATI drivers are practically impossible to correctly install and are prone to strange graphic issues, and Nvidia wrongly implements stuff which sometimes causes GPU locks (and just putting ndiswrapper around the Windows drivers isn't really going to help with "giving a quality experience"). I literally had to go for the reverse-engineered nouveau drivers because they are more stable than the official Nvidia drivers.

  30. @ceruleanspark That's a fake, right? Please tell me it is.
