  3. @dlcentaur No, he's telling the truth, the only reason he even does anything around here is because of the shock collar.

  4. @dlcentaur Hey, the track record doesn't lie. :p I speak only of the truth. xD

  5. @dlcentaur It'll be the same with every sysadmin. It's something they do on their free time, not as a job. xP I'd honestly offer to do it for you, but I have a track record of being unreliable xD

  6. @dlcentaur Much like @eaglehooves and @minti, I'll definitely be around at some points if you need to ask something in an emergency, but I'm not likely to be able to help on a regular basis. (And even if I were available, I'm not good enough to actually get StatusNet running properly.)

  7. @dlcentaur I can do a little, but you probably want to talk to one of the !coderponies

  8. @dlcentaur No one on RP uses Linux at all? It's not very hard to learn if you're tech-savvy. I actually learned most of what I know about sysadmining this year xD

  9. @dlcentaur So the main thing right now is getting a server to host everything on, and getting a domain to point at the server. ;p Everything after that is honestly just finding a sysadmin to set everything up.

  10. @dlcentaur Yep, linux has a nice thing called a package manager. Basically you can install almost any program using a single command xD And all of them are free.

  11. @dlcentaur Having a decent server to run the command on is the hardest part.

Friday, 12-Oct-12 20:15:54 UTC from web in context
  12. @dlcentaur On the server you just run the command "sudo apt-get install nginx", and done. :p

  13. @dlcentaur Nginx is free. That's for actual support from the company or something. Put it this way: The current server we're on only costs us the price of the server itself. Everything else is basically free.

  14. @dlcentaur Nginx is generally superior to Apache, but you'll need to get his config, because I've never set up statusnet on it.

  15. @dlcentaur Do you have domain name yet? I was only mostly joking about the ransom thing. I need money, and I want to see if any of you guys has the ingenuity to find my number, then call me and give me the Taken speech. After that, you need to find a server plan you like/can afford. Then we can get into the technical nitty-gritty of it.

  24. @dlcentaur Nope. It's just another program running on the server.

  25. @dlcentaur Pretty sure he's asleep, but the answer to both questions is actually yes. You can either implement statusnet realtime, which requires you set up meteor, which is what we have now, or you can add your new domain to the list of domains mintrefresh runs on.

  26. @dlcentaur I'd prefer if you used the current setup, which is possible. :p (Yes I know I said bed, I have a bad habit of lurking. xD)

  28. @dlcentaur It's the last one I have to get through right now, so I don't expect it to become awful, but I wish I could already be there... I could really use a good hug and perhaps even some time to cry and let out all the stress I've gotten throughout the month... hugs x.x
