  3. @critialcloudkicker I have been calling for a better healthcare system and more universal firearm training in the US for years. And even in spite of such problems in the US, violent crime was at a peak in...the early 1990's. The violent crime rate actually continued to drop after the ban on "assault weapons" expired in 2004. Other factors are at play here, and the various anti-gun politicians do not have a solution. They are simply applying Donald Trump's flawed logic to a different target.

  4. @critialcloudkicker EDIT: I forgot to mention that a description of a firearm purchase is entered on the NICS background check paperwork here in the United States. What we have is a de facto registry.

  5. @critialcloudkicker As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong), places like Switzerland and the Czech Republic don't have screenings that occur so frequently, yet their more relaxed gun control laws don't result in widespread violent crime. I doubt that such frequent screenings are necessary.

  6. @critialcloudkicker @firestormdangerdash Oh, and no. I detest piracy as much as the nest honest person. But, wow, just wow, AAA gaming is really dropping the ball more and more in my eyes. Because for that money I could buy Life is Strange and Undertale and a metric ton of junkfood and be very content for a way longer amount of time.

  8. @critialcloudkicker i'm not as familiar with idioms or proverbs in English still but see no reason why that can't be one.

  9. @critialcloudkicker well the act itself would be a tradition or ritual. Addage, perhaps, as to say 'throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks' and not be literal.

  12. @critialcloudkicker I don't think a "pseudo-military regime" automatically goes hand-in-hand with more relaxed gun control vis-à-vis other Western nations. While I don't agree with every aspect of Swiss gun regulations, I do greatly admire many aspects of their gun culture over there, and I think there is quite a bit the US can learn from them. I need to research more specifics of whatever criminal and mental health evaluations they do, but they don't have nearly as many shooting-related problems as the US does. Furthermore, I don't think their combination of conscription with a non-belligerent foreign policy constitutes a "pseudo-military style regime."

  13. @critialcloudkicker this is what happens when you amend laws due to ever-changing circumstance, and lobbying for trade on certain parts of laws before they're passed. I think something comprehensive would help if only for a little while. I mean if you're having the sort of problem wherein mass shootings are so common, something has to change somehow.

  14. @critialcloudkicker I'm not saying that things will automatically change. I am just saying that attempts are being made to use "Politics 101" to demonize people, and I am saying what could possibly happen. All sorts of scapegoating is done by politicians to divert attention away from their failures.

  16. @critialcloudkicker In the US, the most vocal opponents of stringent gun control are often conservatives, and the most vocal proponents of more stringent gun control are often liberal. Women, LGBT, and Hispanics are gaining political clout due to demographic changes, and they often lean Democratic due to being repulsed by things like a call for a Berlin Wall at the US-Mexico border. If the Democrats can successfully use "Politics 101" to get these people to associate gun ownership with the things some Republicans are saying, gun owners like myself are in a lot of trouble in the long run (a permanent ban on "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines, "may issue" concealed carry laws, etc.).

  25. @critialcloudkicker I watched only gameplay videos. They don't impress me. The glory kills are too repetitive and halt the action. Mechanically they do make sense but the flow of the action is constantly interrupted. If I want to play something fast-paced I'd rather grab Painkiller.
