  4. @unhipdruid I only have one monitor. Luckily it's quite big =/

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 14:54:19 UTC from web in context
  5. @unhipdruid Definitely, but I still like mine a lot more. A multi-monitor setup would be sweet, though.

  6. @ceruleanspark Err... Depends on your definition of desktop, and my ability to find another word to use instead. "Collection of terminal emulator windows" just doesn't sound that good.

  7. @unhipdruid My computer. That is virtual desktop 2. Virtual desktop 1 only runs GNUzilla IceCat, a Firefox-based browser. Desktop 2 shows me all my chats in Weechat (on top), activity on my server (left-bottom), music player (middle bottom) and miscellaneous system events logged by journalctl (right-bottom). Virtual desktop 3 runs Vmail, a curses-based mail client with vim-like bindings. Virtual desktop 4 to 9 are free, mostly used for gaming.

  19. I know a lot of you aren't into complot theories, but Loose Change has some pretty good evidence for saying 9/11 was an inside job by the government so, unless someone gives me better evidence that it was not, I'll just keep believing that it was set up by the government.

  20. Sometimes, "Dude, this is not free software. See this whole game? THAT ONE TEXTURE CANNOT BE USED COMMERCIALLY. Therefore, the whole package is unfree." annoys me to no end. I know they're right, but GOD DAMMIT IT'S ONE FREAKING TEXTURE WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO KEEP HAPPENING

  21. Okay, Red Eclipse players, Team-Instagib-Medieval-Survivor is still an insane combination of mutators. Why do you like combining mutators so much?

  22. @omni Under GNOME3, that is. The window border will obviously look different on other desktop environments.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 10:07:05 UTC from web in context
  23. @omni @neurario The apps in question will look a bit like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Wikipedia_Web_Application_%28Epiphany%29.png

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 10:05:32 UTC from web in context
  24. @neurario That's exactly what Web does for Linux, which perfectly integrates with GNOME3 (which I'm not using right now), and should integrate well with most other Linux desktop environments. If you click the button in the screenshot, it'll create a .desktop file which will be a desktop shortcut to to website opening with only a window border (assuming your Window Manager uses window borders) and no UI at all. I don't know any Windows equivalents, though. I know Mozilla used to have "Prism", which was something to do just that, but they discontinued it. http://ur1.ca/c87dv

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 10:01:58 UTC from web in context
  25. @neurario Web (Epiphany) can do that for Linux. Probably others as well, but I can't recall any from the top of my head.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 09:47:56 UTC from web in context
  26. @neurario The "actual desktop mode" is nothing more than a "fallback" mode, really. So yes, I mean that Windows 8 new "Start" thingy, which should definitely be something you can customize according to your wishes.

  27. @renovatedkitchen I think I'd prefer to give KDE Plasma Active on tablets a try, it looks really decent. A tablet that can multi-boot any Linux-based OS I want would be pretty much perfect for me, though.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 09:25:48 UTC from web in context
  28. @neurario Wow, and in the Linux world we're bashing GNOME3 for taking away screensavers, while Microsoft takes away desktop backgrounds completely... That's... insane.

Saturday, 22-Dec-12 09:24:17 UTC from web in context
  29. @neurario Can you actually put your own desktop background there by default? The new Windows 8 screen really seemed even more limited than the default GNOME3 to me, although I must admit it at least looks good (though that isn't enough to make me want it :P)
