  1. @theforeverfreest Seems a bit unrelated, but yay? Which distro?

  2. @ceruleanspark The logo was in caps :x

  3. @zeldatra Explain to me how Windows is easy to use. It's inconsistent (just look at how much people don't know when to single or double click, even with ONLY Microsoft software), needs a lot of care (antivirus software which needs to be managed), is unstable and can't be adapted to the individual user all that much. Now, I'm not saying Linux is perfect, but at least it is consistent (assuming you choose one desktop environment and don't mix-and-match applications), needs very little maintenance (no antivirus, one central updater) and can be tweaked to the user's wishes (in this case: only a browser). You can't tweak Windows that much.

  4. @techdisk I was talking about Apple, not SONY. I know too little about SONY products to make statements regarding that.

  5. @techdisk Okay, let's put it this way: I believe that for the same money you could support companies which have better price/quality ratios for their products, instead of a company with a mediocre price/quality ratio (overpriced) who is turning into a patent troll. Is that good enough? :P

  6. @ceruleanspark Okay, at very least it could've been put to much better use.

  7. @ceruleanspark Is "because you like to waste money" one of them?

  9. @omni @techdisk Also, I infer you like Doctor Who.

  10. @techdisk Oh, SONY. Well, that looked a lot like a Mac. Maybe you should use a real camera next time :x

  11. @techdisk Just wondering, why do you buy an expensive Mac if you want to run Windows on it? :x

Monday, 17-Dec-12 21:57:25 UTC from web in context
  12. @techdisk I infer you use Windows 7 and a version of Mac OS X.

  13. @kamikaze He never drives his car. Well, we can at least try. If it doesn't work out, I can have a laptop or so maybe? :P

  14. @widget I expect him to be able to click links. I'm sure he'd need some help at the beginning, and we'd probably have to write some notes for him, but I really can't make it any easier than that. I can only hope he becomes able to.

Monday, 17-Dec-12 21:42:37 UTC from web in context
  15. @omni @widget To turn the system down, he has to press the power button on the laptop. I already found out how to configure systemd to listen to ACPI events (was quite easy, actually, just uncommenting a line).

  16. @widget Unity is also way too hard, according to my dad. Apparently having more than a few buttons is going to make it impossible to use the system for him, so I ended up jumping through some loops to make a Parabola GNU/Linux-libre system which automatically logs in as him and then starts an X session which only runs epiphany, the very simple 4-buttons and address bar browser from the GNOME team also know as "Web".

  17. I_HAVE_READ_THE_README=ON as a cmake variable necessary to compile successfully. Someone must REALLY hate people skipping READMEs.

  18. @zeldatra Windows is way too hard for him. I've already said this.

  19. Dear GNOME3: I like my software to get the clicks I give them. There's nothing wrong with that, right? Or aren't you designing GNOME3 for people who like to click on things?

  20. @pinkamenadainepie With you, I wonder how much of this is real and how much is roleplaying. If it's the second one, this isn't the right place *hugs*

  21. @pinkamenadainepie Why? What happened? *holds you*

  23. @pinkamenadainepie Oh, hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What's making you feel like this?

  24. @whiterose Aww, bye :(

Monday, 17-Dec-12 20:36:34 UTC from web in context
  25. @whiterose I'm fine, I guess. I spend the last hour playing Vore Tournament (A furry vore game, somewhat # but survivable if you turn some sounds off) with @derpyshy and the developer. That was strange, yet fun. It's even stranger because I would normally not enjoy such a game :x

Monday, 17-Dec-12 20:35:32 UTC from web in context
  26. @whiterose Oh, hi you!

  27. @techdisk The article is clear nonsense. They own the trademark, so they don't actually have to license that out. "Artists" (oh, please) already are violating their trademark by writing such fanfiction and making such artwork.

  28. Today, I found an old game on my system called Vore Tournament. I did not know why I expected it to be different from what I got, nor did I expect to get the bit of enjoyment out of it I got. There's something wrong with me.

  29. After not having listened to Merzbow's "Raging Chaos" for a while, I think I heard something new around the 9 minute mark or so: An old telephone ringing. Interesting how that still happens a few months after first buying the release...

  30. Oh, furries and your awesome thousand dollar fursuits. You make me feel so jealous...
