  1. @metaltao youre making the robin hood argument that its ok to steal from certain people and not from others, not based on any real ethics but rather just on their income. Arguably immoral to believe this.

  2. @caret7 then there ya go

Wednesday, 30-Jul-14 09:47:34 UTC from web in context
  3. @caret7 and if buy something you can use what you purchase as long as you obey the law and agree to any terms and conditions set by the seller.

Wednesday, 30-Jul-14 09:45:52 UTC from web in context
  4. @caret7 there's also property that's either physical or intellectual. There's a lot of law that protects people's property so that they can safely use it for whatever purpose

Wednesday, 30-Jul-14 09:44:29 UTC from web in context
  5. @caret7 law. We already have laws. Theyre a thing. If you file for a copyright or patent, thats what determines it. The owner can choose to share or sell his property whether it be physical or otherwise. Someone acquiring said stuff without owner's permiwsionxis therefore breaking law.

  6. @caret7 yes. The alternative would be people agreeing that theft is a moral action, aka I dont wanna hear any whining when people legally empty a thief's house of all his/her property. Lets take it a step back further: can you logically support theft as a moral action?

Wednesday, 30-Jul-14 09:36:10 UTC from web in context
  7. @caret7 because it's notabout whether the owner lost it, it's about whether someone who isnt supposed to have it illegally acquires it. There could be infinite apples but if theyre not for you but you take one then it's theft. Theft theft theft theft

  15. Essentially every new season's gonna start out like "gee, i have this new title/friend/responsibility/whatwver was earned in previous season finale, but i am conveniently ignorant of all social contracts that normal people would presume or know from having left their house on occassion. What am I supposed to do with this new title/friendship/responsibility?" "Uh oh, a new villain/malignant plot device threatens peace, and my manner in defeating said villain/malignant plot device teaches me the socio-cultural implications of my new title/friendship/responsibility. AND FRIENDS FRIENDS FRIENDS"

  22. @cinnamonswirl but we're not sure that's a pattern due to them/their world, or just air-tight writing. Remember in shows/movies/comics that dreams are never meaningless and writers who use dreams always justify them in the narrative. Since we dont have enogh info to distinguish which of these is true, we need to start re-examining the validity of either the premise or claim

  24. @northernnarwhal @nut ive been up since 3pm yesterday, im at work from 9pm till 7am, then off to my other job 9am to 1-2pm. But the work isnt hard so its not as bad as it sounds

Friday, 25-Jul-14 09:22:56 UTC from web in context
  25. @cinnamonswirl im not being aggressive or condescending. Im just confused on why we were exploring the consequences of a faulty premise

  26. @cinnamonswirl funny you show him, i just had kfc the other day

Friday, 25-Jul-14 09:15:33 UTC from web in context
  27. @cinnamonswirl subconscience=/= dreams. Also, modern psychology debates the old idea of subconscience as a misnomer based on improperly applying spacial logic to something that does not behave in a spacial manner (aka what we believe to be the subconscience may not be that at all)

Friday, 25-Jul-14 09:10:38 UTC from web in context
  28. @cinnamonswirl the bottom line is, we still know squat about dreams and applying a shaky understanding of that to a children's cartoon isn't going to work

Friday, 25-Jul-14 09:07:26 UTC from web in context
  29. @cinnamonswirl ok so what determines it? If i need to be X passionate enough about doing it, then id be having naughty dreams all the time. If it's determined by personal importance or survival/success/urgency, then the driving to work example would still stand

Friday, 25-Jul-14 09:06:23 UTC from web in context
  30. We're assuming all thoughts and plans surface in dreams. This is untrue or else i'd be dreaming about driving to work all the time
