  1. @purpletinker It just doesn't SEEM to be neutral, if you know what I mean.

  2. @purpletinker Ok, then, I'll concede that point. It was still reckless and careless, which is not a quality I want to see in someone with that much say in the site. I'm not saying he's a bad _person_, but he makes way too many snap calls without considering the community for me to trust him _as an admin_.

  3. @purpletinker Besides, to me, evil would be him just doing it, without taking a single word users said in effect.

  4. @purpletinker I never called him evil, just not necessarily nice.

  5. @purpletinker The threat alone damaged his reputation well beyond repair.

  6. @purpletinker I wouldn't say never. The way he acted about shutting down RDN seemed a bit ridiculous to me.

  7. @purpletinker And RDBN will be even better off once we move to a server 3x the power this one has next month. We can do some crazy things with that.

  8. @purpletinker And what he did with the domain _wasn't_ "actual malice" for his "own gain"? Did you happen to see the drama that occured as a direct result?

  9. @purpletinker Though, I don't tend to be quite as vocal to certain things as he is, I think.

  10. @purpletinker Eh, doesn't sound to different to me, if I'm honest...

  11. @purpletinker It doesn't alter the fact that holding the domain hostage is a dick move, doesn't matter how much of a "good pony" you are otherwise.

  12. @purpletinker Yes, but to put it bluntly... he's not a good admin. Even ignoring when he overreacts, he gave out mod priveleges like candy when he was the head admin, and most of said mods were hardly ever around.

  13. @purpletinker @thelastgherkin Same. He doesn't seem like a 'good pony' to me. Then again, I don't know anything about him outside of RDN.

  14. @purpletinker I've yet to see his good side. I'll believe it when I see it.

  15. @purplephish20 It is especially noteworthy in that the site doesn't even belong to him anymore. He was just going to shut it down, but thanks to @purpletinker and the community was persuaded to hand it over to @mrdragon and @ceruleanspark instead. But it seems he wasn't ready to give up unilateral decision making power and kept the domain.

  18. @purpletinker That is the way things should be. A leader has to be arrogant, otherwise the weight of responsibility ends up breaking him/her. And if (s)he's not grumpy, the not-so-considerate would disregard warnings and wreak havoc around, confusing politeness with weakness.

  20. @purpletinker yeah... overwhelming inactivity , mostly everyone clamoring for a meetup but no one planning one. If I actually had the resources to arrange and host one, I would, but alas I'm not that type of pony.

  21. @purpletinker I have never talked to you enough, or meddled with any important issues of the fandom to really know what's going on in the higher circles, but I can gather from knowledge on politics and psychology that it's not nice; the usual plotting and schemes of deception and betrayal to grab power even if just for a little while. I'm arrogant and with an ego the size of the sun myself, yet I completely lack interest in getting involved in such things; so I can see how someone with a big ego would act in a position like that. As far as I know, you're not a saint, but by any means you're what some try to make others believe. You're a normal woman trying to do something for a community, with a fair amount of bad luck that came from not cutting some heads in the right moment. But yeah, as long as there's profit and the sense of power over anything involved, things will end like this again and again.

  22. @purpletinker Trolls are not tolerated here and you know that well Tinker, but I can't just ban someone on the assumption that they are a troll. If they show true disrespect then they will be warned about it, or in abigponies case rebanned and done with. As he no longer has chances. Send me that link again, I was busy earlier today, moving my house around in preparation for things and then had to take a nap afterwards. Things are hectic here of late.

  23. @purpletinker abigpony is just some troll we keep around for reasons I may never properly understand, don't let them get to you. *hugs* There's a few people like that here, I guess the mods just keep them around for entertainment or something.

  24. @purpletinker The ones about you being a self-entitled bigot who feels the need to constantly draw attention to themself. I know nothing about the pedophile ones and therefore didn't really laugh at them or anything. Things like using friendships you gain to your advantage and playing blame games and making a scene about everything are probably some of the most true ones in there. I don't really hate you per se, but I see you more as a person who does their job well enough but isn't a good people person. I respect you for your work and I believe deep down you're trying your best to think in everyone's well-being, but you've always been an extreme pain in the arse to my eyes. Pic related. It's my face every time I see something you post. http://ur1.ca/994m7

  25. @purpletinker @comradebitshift You can insert carriage returns into posts using Statusnet desktop, and the carriage returns ARE stored in the DB, however, the site just ignores them. Any client that actually respects them /will/ display them though.

Wednesday, 16-May-12 17:27:14 UTC from web in context
  26. @purpletinker Ah, makes sense. I think carriage returns _will_ post, but get turned into plain spaces on the site. Not ideal for longer posts.
