@hirumiro In Victorian England a commoner was not allowed to look directly at the queen due to a belief at the time that poor people had the ability to steal thoughts. Science now believes that less then 4 percent of poor people are able to do this.

@mithent Oh yeah. We're a team of 6 people, and for the sake of people not from our dept. we label our seating areas with our name for easy identification. So, time and again someone will print up new "names" for us and assign them based on attributes. Previously it had been Marvel Comics Characters, Gender Swaps of our names, etc. So I did ponies. No one had seen the show on my team, and it lead to them having to watch/research to determine the background of their assigned pony. She had Pinkie Pie. She was... mad. She ended up watching the show and then changed her pony "name" to Nightmare Moon.... after that, she just fell into the fandom of it. If tl;dr: I played a prank involving ponies, got her to watch the show !techponies

@trombe Another thing, don't be afraid to begin writing in earnest, even when you have no clear idea of what you're going to do with your ideas. By experience, most of the ideas and links I end up using in stories are ideas I came up with while half-way through writing, often the result of discarding an earlier idea I had once I've tried it and realized it doesn't work for any number of reasons. As a result of this, I have not yet ever wrote a story which even remotely looks like what I planned. Go wild and write, ideas come as often halfway through as they do in the beginning!

Alright, time to work. For some reason, I work best if I think that by doing excellent work I do the brony name a good turn. Who knows - maybe in the future, the term "brony" will be thrown around the workplace for an eccentric worker who you can't get rid of because he's just too damn good at what he does and everyone loves him...even if his workstation is covered with multicoloured pony pictures.

This was my fault. A couple of weeks ago #toomuchpony made a friend of mines mistype PinkiePie into one of his college papers. His professor didn't know what it was at first. "I googled it and just found lots of pictures of cartoon horses." Then a few days later... he hears the professor humming the MLP FiM intro to himself.
