DX I identify most with Twilight, though, because we're both geeks and heavy readers. On a side note, I play the alto sax in band!

@zeldatra I play alto sax in band, so this particular one is pretty fun (and actually sorta complicated, compared to Sleigh Ride, which has me doing the same pattern OVER AND OVER AND OVER). If you Google the title, you can find the conductor's score (aka full score) and listen to some of it.

So my band class just sightread a piece today called "Deck The Halls With Old Composers." I know it's the night before Halloween, but it's actually pretty fun and we might play it for our Christmas concert.

@m14brony Ah. OK then. I've been forced to read so many historical fiction (usually around the American Revolution) books in grade school that whenever I hear "apprenticeship", I immediately think of artisanal or smithing job fields.

@nethernarwhal Cool. I actually played piano for ~2.5 years, then stopped a while back. Now I play classical guitar (basically, screw picks). While we're talking, wanna join the brand new group? I play alto sax and a bit of euphonium/baritone, by the way.

So, I just got Christmas concert music in my band class. This actually makes sense because we have a Veteran's Day concert coming up soon, and if we started immediately after that, we'd only have a little over a month to get ready. The 2 pieces we got are Sleigh Ride and African Bell Carol (think Carol of the Bells, but with cool drums. See http://rainbowdash.net/url/795389). Disadvantages: Sleigh Ride is 3 pages long and boring, while ABC has 24 MEASURES OF REST at the beginning, then some complicated stuff.
