A bi-lingual, bi-cultural brony living in Argentina. I try to stay up to date on all internet memes and that's how I came to find MLP FiM. The show hooked me and I've been a huge fan ever since.

@trister As Mr. Garrison once said: "You TOLERATE a screaming child on an airplane.... doesn't mean you have to like it." Now, I'm not comparing the situation to a screaming child on an airplane because we do have a way of voicing out in the matter.

@ecmc1093 It was censorship for political correctness; caving in to the fits and screams of a minority over something that could have easily just been left alone and the whiners would have forgotten about it eventually. No matter what, this was an act of censorship. Don't forget that censorship on the internet has been a touchy subject lately. It clearly was going to rub a lot of people the wrong way and show a very bad image of Hasbro for doing it.

@ceruleanspark That's an interesting observation. Granted, I started learning about programming at age 12. At that time, I thought of programming languages as naturally as I thought of language itself: just a way to "speak in a way the computer understood me". Sure, these days I think a bit more about the algorithms and optimizations, data structures and object models, and so on and so forth, but in my initial steps it was a rather simple endeavor that came rather naturally.

@ceruleanspark I had fluency in Spanish by age 2 and I moved to the US around age 4. I pretty much grew up with both languages both in an out of the home. At this point, having both languages is just a natural thing for me.

@ceruleanspark For what it's worth, I 'am' completely bi-lingual, though if I had to take a pick of which is my strongest, I suppose it would be English. And hey, it's pretty much the current international language, so it keeps me in touch with all my bronies all over the world. :D

@ceruleanspark It could be, though typing too fast and writing "there's" instead of "that's" makes me ashamed of myself for it. :P I spent a lot of time in the US, so I picked up my English from there.

@pretorian @ceruleanspark Argentina actually (says so in my profile). Pretty much all of South America doesn't have an official/legal form of console sales. Any console you buy here has already been hacked to play pirated games since there's all you're going to get since anything else would be unaffordable thanks to import taxes and exchange rates. For me, the final nail that drove me to Steam was when I saw Sonic Generations for PC. I knew then that it was my destiny!

@pretorian Steam has been a godsend for me. We don't get much in the way of consoles around here or any official support or sales channels for them either. Steam became my only real way to support the gaming industry while getting access to games at reasonable prices.

@purplephish20 Trying to better yourself or get into a more promising carrier is a noble thing. And don't think "burger flipping" is that big of a dead end. Most of the management in these places comes from people that rose through the ranks from insane. Still, the best thing you can do is try to find work in something you love doing. If you can achieve that, you basically win.

@nerthos Don't think that a little thing like "facts" and "efficiency" will get in the way of a good argument from authority. Likely, everyone in the class already ridicules them behind their backs, but you can't really say anything since they are the gatekeepers, the ones filing the test scores.

@yodelerty That's usually what happens when you put mathematicians in charge of a programming class. These are the same teachers that never really worked on this stuff in the professional world, only the academic world. I know your pain all too well. Usually, the only options are sucking it up and graduating quickly, appealing to a higher authority by reporting their bs, or leaving. It's not a situation I care to go back to, which is one of the reasons I left school and continued working in the field.
