    • Social media is a mistake. The bombardment of likes, reposts, (shallow) comments is highly distracting. https://bsky.app/profile/adiwan.bsky.social/post/3lxykitwn5224 Never thought a dumb picture of tomatoes would have that kind of reaction. I like screaming into the void and don't want the void to scream back.

          • Finally the Sony Xperia 10 VI is back in stock and it got way cheaper. Barely went through payment and shortly after it was sold out. Soon the time will be over with battery anxiety. My Blackberry KeyOne is down to 4 hours idle and then it'll be at 40% but a major spike in power drain will shut it down, like a simple phone call.

                • @ceruleanspark Ah... Makes sense. At a project I was working on they had similar issues. They logged EVERYTHING and had space issues in production. So much so that they had to make rotating logs but soon after so much was logged that the rotating logs would only save about 2-3 hours and yet more and more logging was added. My code had also very verbose logging that could be disabled but the client wanted even that output all the time. Coincidentally their DB views got so big that certain joints in some applications suddenly stopped working because it had too many columns. It was quite the ordeal to debug that.

              • I've repaired my broken Samson SR-850 headphones with an audiojack, as the original cable had its core broken after 4 years of constant use. Had to model myself a holder for the audio jack but now I can worry less about breaking a cable and can switch to shorter or longer cables whenever I like. https://i.imgur.com/67ka1Sk.jpeg

                • Oof... A whole city district having a yard sale... More like every other street has one vendor. Still it was quite the walk. I walked about 8km in 2.5 hours and visited about 100 vendors. All I got are sore legs and some gardening tools as well as something to prop up plants for 10€. Not bad. My mother was buying baby clothes for a cousin expecting her baby in a few months. I'm glad I don't father a child seeing my mother going into a baby frenzy and buying "cute" baby things.

                          • On the other hand Tigerella (red tomatoes with yellow-ish stripes) are not that bad and they pump out a lot but they are not my preferred taste with their very juicy and sour notes. If I prepared salads they would have been ideal for that. A Polish sort called Malina on the other hand was described as very sweet and juicy but in my garden they turned out to be dull in taste. The same with a sort called Japanese Crab (it's from Russia) that is not much of a shower in the flavor department. Marmande (from France) is still a very solid all-rounder that I don't mind for being mid in everything. Harzfeuer (German) is also mid but the fruits are a little bit too small for me. Roma tomatoes (Italy) are quite hard, almost like a soft bell pepper and have little juice which makes them eating on bread less desirable. Adora tomatoes that I tasted were also not bad but lacked the qualities it is advertised as with its smoky taste. For me it's a watered-down Black Krim atm.

                          • Never thought my favorite game franchise gets a new game https://store.steampowered.com/app/1939890/Simon_the_Sorcerer_Origins/ It's a prequel. I guess since Simon The Sorcerer 3D it didn't recover from that catastrophe. Even the last two sequels were mid at best. 1 and 2 are still on the same level as Monkey Island 1 and 2 in my opinion.

                            • Got my first ripe Black Krim tomato. It was a little bit underwhelming. Maybe it's the sample size of 1 at the moment and the seeds I got did not have the best representatives of that kind. However I am now quite certain what to plant next year en masse: Tscherny Prinz (Black Prince) tomatoes. They taste similar but Tscherny Prinz are more intense in taste and buttery smooth in texture. I won't completely abstain from other sorts but I want to have at least half of what I plant to be Tscherny Prinz. Also I'm a little bit disappointed by most what I planted as they grow very slowly. Purple Sunrise tomatoes just started to get their color. Ananas Noire is still very green.

                              • Metal Gear Solid Delta is very fun and the new control scheme is great, BUT, you invariably run into rooms that were designed for the top down camera that wind up being much harder to navigate with the over the shoulder camera, and unfortunately there isn’t any way to switch cameras without reverting to a checkpoint.

                              • Gathering tomato seeds from the fruits is quite tedious. It's all gooey and slippery. I used paper kitchen towels to accelerate the drying process. Selling the seeds I have left over would be an option but it's not worth the effort for 2-3€ per 15 seeds (average price on eBay) plus 1€ to send them via postal service. At least it's not worth my time. I'd rather do a 3d print service instead.
