  2. Watched again Kung-Fu Hustle after a long time. Not bad but my taste has shifted. It is awesome in parts but the second half is rather boring. The film peaks at the first fight with the three masters against the hatchet gang and everything after that slowly drizzles out.

    • Marvel's Wonderman TV series is actually good. The ending is weak but every other episode had some pretty good dialogue and acting.

      • Once again I have to rant about configuration files. I really hate them. No checks on build-time. Just runtime crashes with no or less helpful error messages. It's the bane of my existence that suck my life out of my body.

        • 've completely DM'd myself into a corner I couldn't get out of. My players have effectively stopped the cult by storing the McGuffins to a bank into a magically protected and un-scry-able box. Anything to reverse that is a dick move. We decided to continue with one-shot adventures in the same world.

            • I've watched "Cosmic Princess Kaguya!" on Netflix. It has some nice vibes but the plot is brain dead. It tries to be clever but doing so it is hand-waving so many things that put too many questions into my head that everything falls apart.

              • @adiwan Due to lack of good new stuff to watch this last month I've been watching all the 90s mecha anime I still hadn't watched, and it has been great

              • @nerthos It was an opportunistic watch without much thought behind it. It was more of an act of curiosity than anything else and yet I was disappointed. Are the Japanese so oblivious and do not care about the quality of the plot? I get it that that was a more fairy tale like one but it failed to be one in my opinion.

              • @adiwan I think it's the ever-present 80-20 rule, and this one might fall on the 80. Lots of slop produced every year since ever and it's kinda hard to sort out while things are still airing and there isn't a full picture.

              • @zeldatra Plenty of Venezuelan refugee students at my workplace, all were insanely happy about the intervention, so were their parents. Refugee associations called for a celebration in the capital at 18 and at 14 it was already full, they were still there past midnight. Ex student I kept in contact with (in college now) I messaged right when the extraction was announced (it was early morning here) and she had to take a break to cry. I have yet to see one who isn't happy about it.

Machado is an F tier candidate for actually being in charge of the country and will absolutely sell all resources, however in the words of a Venezuelan refugee that was asked about the oil on the sidewalk here, "we don't have food why would we care about oil?"

I think Zion Don's current administration isn't great but this is probably the first genuinely good military act the USA has carried out since ordering the navy to clear out the pirates in the seas of Tripoli.

              • @nerthos in the grander scheme of things after doing some research I’ve come around on this particular event but I have an admittedly self-interested dislike of any US military intervention anywhere for any reason regardless of the outcome

about 5 months ago in context
              • @zeldatra Everyone except the zionists dislike any US intervention, but if they're going to do it regardless, it might as well be an useful one with at least one or two good facets to it.

            • We’re supposed to get like three feet of snow this weekend and now that I live in a place where that might actually prevent me from being able to get to work I’m getting kind of giddy about it. Feels like being in school all over again.

                  • Today's D&D session I did again a cardinal sin: a boring session. I created too many fights. The players are in a dungeon crawl beneath Candlekeep where they were avoiding traps and fighting Nothics, Spectators and a group of Koa-Tua imprisoning the spectral dragon. Not much variety this time. My players weren't keen on going outside the direct path and didn't want to look for treasures or anything alike because their main mission was to rescue a high-ranking person of Candlekeep who was threatened by evil wizards to seek an artifact beneath Candlekeep.

                        • Cool. Once I had 4 D-Link DIR-615 wireless access points that I bought many years ago and were extensively used. Now I have only one working. Either they are boot looping or just blinking or cannot turned on. Luckily I haven't paid much. The working one is just fine and has been put into work again as a wireless bridge from the cellar to the top floor because the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W antennas are not good enough to go reliably through thick rebar concrete. It's a little too flaky and I plan to add a tiny wireless camera which will definitely struggle as well, so the bridge bill be needed regardless.

                                • My city is incapable of clearing snow from bike paths. 3 days ago was the last time it snowed and yet one of the most busiest streets has still a thick layer of snow. The house owners have no obligation to clear them, however the foot paths they have to clear. BUT they are also very much covered in compacted snow with sand and stone chippings.

                                  • I'm so close to build a cobbled together Frankenstein-esque Prusa MK3S. Found a very cheap power supply (good quality Meanwell), the frame with other parts arrived today, the mainboard will arrive this week, and the only part that takes the longest to arrive is a clone heatbed which will be in a few weeks because it's shipped from China.

                                        • I've spent 2 hours to remove the LED connector off the Prusa enclosure board and figuring out how the current flows in order to replace it with a standard barrel jack for an ordinary LED strip. Still half the price of the official Prusa LED strip AND a 2m strip evenly lights up the print area. The original is only a 0,5m. I had also a ton of issues with the adhesive strip of the LED strip I bought. It didn't stick to the LED strip and the surface I wanted to stick on, however adhesive held firmly to the protective film. In the end I had to remove the adhesive and use zip ties.
