  1. Remember when randos on the internet were saying Hillary Clinton was running a sex trafficking ring in the basement of a pizza restaurant that had no basement? Kinda feels like we’re back there.

    • I semi-automated the transformation of my local garbage disposal company's collection schedule, that is downloadable as CSV, into my own LaTeX calendar. I still have to copy&paste the result into the tex file but the time I used to program was about what I would have spent manually editing everything into LaTeX syntax with my own functions. It's handy to have it hanging in the kitchen to remind myself when to put out the trash.

      • With the power of over-engineering and 3D printing I repaired my mother's ironing board's height adjustment. The original mechanism slipped and I had to break the main components in order to make it repairable that I replaced with my prints. Otherwise I would have been a new purchase. 50€ new vs 50cent in printed plastic and a few nuts and screws.

        • Been playing Megabonk the last days and I have beaten the final boss of the forest stage with Sir Oofie by focusing a lot on armor, shield, lifesteal and a lot of big axes. Luckily the game is not addicting.

          • Finally I brought the 3D printer to the school. The teachers (one of them is a friend of mine) were ecstatic that they have something usable, with potentially someone (me) to fix it whenever something happens. The previous printer was just garbage. At least with that one I can do something. The repair guides are excellent and the manufacturer offers printable replacement parts and the other stuff is still purchasable, with the possibility they can fix the printer themselves. I really hope it will be rocking without incident until they retire it. Given it's a school it means at least 10 to 20 years.

                            • I tried to repair a school's 3d printer. Despite my best efforts a FrankerZty printer remains Fluffle Puffty. The replacement parts I used weren't 100% compatible resulting in other parts interfering. In this case it is the part cooling fan shroud that's quite a bit too high making the cooling basically nonexistent. Right now I'm printing a few different lengths of the fan shroud since I didn't think of measuring and record the current nozzle position.

                                • RIP my Jalapeño plants. I had to throw them into the trash because they were infested by aphids. Instead of salvaging them I decided to that drastic decision because I determined the trouble isn't worth for a 1-year plant.

                                  • By accident I discovered that my comic shop has a pre-order for a figure of Akiyama Shun. Of course I had to get it. On the same stroke I saw a Ichiban Kasuga figure from Kotobukiya with Nancy but it's waaaay out of my budget. I ain't paying 280€ just to get Nancy. There is also a Pirate Majima figure for 210€ that I won't get. The regular Majima I already have must suffice.

                                    • Stranger Things Season 5 part 1 was quite good. A lot happened but it didn't meander as much as some other season. It had a tight direction and the editing cuts were at time creative, maybe a little too much in a short time. 8/10

                                      • @scribus No. I can see past that. It's unfair to point that out as the actors can't do anything against that. I bet CGI doctoring would look worse. It's less aggregious

                                      • @adiwan I'm kinda mixed on it, like I'm used to seeing high school freshmen who shave three times a day from all those 80s movies with 25 year olds playing teenagers, but at the same time I've seen them be middle schoolers before, it's not like they were introduced in this age category. They really need to do something about these screwed up production schedules, it had been so long between seasons I didn't even know if I'd seen the last one or not, lol.

                                      • @scribus I get you. I had a similar reaction at the first episode but I got quickly used to. Production schedules are always a mess. Many cogs in the system with any points of failure with as many compromises. I don't believe they did it on purpose stretching the release as they did. I think there are most likely scheduling conflicts and creative differences in the way.
My mother regularly asks me when new Outlander episodes will be released and I have to console here that's taking a long time to film. On top of that I have to wait for the German synchro to be released for download.
