Stranger Things Season 5 part 1 was quite good. A lot happened but it didn't meander as much as some other season. It had a tight direction and the editing cuts were at time creative, maybe a little too much in a short time. 8/10

@scribus No. I can see past that. It's unfair to point that out as the actors can't do anything against that. I bet CGI doctoring would look worse. It's less aggregious

@adiwan I'm kinda mixed on it, like I'm used to seeing high school freshmen who shave three times a day from all those 80s movies with 25 year olds playing teenagers, but at the same time I've seen them be middle schoolers before, it's not like they were introduced in this age category. They really need to do something about these screwed up production schedules, it had been so long between seasons I didn't even know if I'd seen the last one or not, lol.

@scribus I get you. I had a similar reaction at the first episode but I got quickly used to. Production schedules are always a mess. Many cogs in the system with any points of failure with as many compromises. I don't believe they did it on purpose stretching the release as they did. I think there are most likely scheduling conflicts and creative differences in the way.
My mother regularly asks me when new Outlander episodes will be released and I have to console here that's taking a long time to film. On top of that I have to wait for the German synchro to be released for download.

If I hadn't this Humble Bundle Image Comics bundle is fire https://www.humblebundle.com/books/image-comics-in-10s-books About 17€ for bangers like Saga, I Hate Fairyland, Papergirls, and Curse Words. Moonstruck is neat, as well as Plutonia. Ice Cream Man I read only an issue and it's also intriguing as it's an anthology. Sex Criminals got me annoyed and stopped at Volume 3. Maybe it gets better but the characters were grating. mango Planet is a trash fire in my opinion despite the intriguing premise. I can't say anything about the other comics except most have fairly good reviews.

@adiwan I read some "I Hate Fairyland" back in the beginning and was enjoying it up until the main title I was actually going to the store for stopped releasing regularly

@scribus Yeah. It sucks when the series updates very irregularly. I am still waiting for new Saga issues, however they keep on waiting. What's worse is buying into a series and shortly after it being cancelled. Happened to me a few times. I also bought the first issue and all future issues got cancelled like "Trust Fall" https://www.amazon.com/TRUST-FALL-English-Christopher-Sebela-ebook/dp/B07RF2YMCV Looked amazing. Synopsis amazing. Cancellation not so. In a weird way I trusted the series and they let me fall. In hindsight wonderfully meta.

@scribus I own the first Elegoo Mars SLA 3D printer. It uses an array of UV LEDs that shines through an LCD that masks the areas that exposes the UV-curing resin. That is below the resin VAT that has a very sturdy, slightly flexible and transparent bottom. The actual model that is 3D-printed is attached to a parallel platform that moves up (and down) such that the exposed resin is at the defined layer height. Sadly it's not that cool-looking. It needs about an hour of print time until the printed model can be seen while printing. It's also a source of my anger as a failed print takes that time to be detected.

Yesterday I was at the store at the bottle deposit machine where one has to insert the bottles in a hole that transports the bottles with a conveyor belt to the back side. A woman and her boyfriend were putting their bottles and cans into the machine and one can got "stuck". It probably moved on the conveyor belt such that the machine detected a fault. They were standing like idiots not knowing what to do. The can was pretty deep in the machine but the boyfriend had long enough arms to grab it himself. They even could call for help at the information desk just a few steps behind them. I offered my help and fixed their problem in half a second.

It took me two hours to replace a 2004 LCD screen for my Prusa MK3S. I *really* wished I had a vacuum desoldering iron. I had to flood all pins with solder and wiggle the pins out of the holes. At least the printer is operable again without guessing or extremely tilting the screen.

Oh man. I wish I had the space and the PC AND money for the Steam Frame. Although I haven't used my HTC Vive for ages I am highly intrigued to get my hands on the Steam Frame. Hopefully I get an opportunity at my job when it's released.

DM'ing sleep-deprived might be not such a bad idea. For once I had a shorter session but it a way better. It' so hard to make Hoard of the Dragon Queen turn good. I made my players retrieve a Dragon Mask from an auction by replacing with a fake. 100x better than what the book does with the masks.

I don't understand the pricing of used Raspberry Pi. They either cost exactly as much as new or they cost even more. All I want is to connect my 3D printers to my network as cheap as possible.

@scribus Yeah. At this point a cheap thin client like a HP T630 could be considered as an alternative to a Raspberry Pi 4.
