  1. @cabal Wow. That sounds like all kinds of not fun. :( And, unfortunately, I do see the parallels, yes.

  2. @madflavors Stay well, and pony dreams.

  3. @cabal Hm. I'm guessing from the context that this individual isn't really a reviewer, so much as someone who likes to tear people to shreds just to make him feel better about himself?

  4. @colfax That would be a nice change of pace, but you know some people here can't resist inflating their little egos by beating down on someone, especially when they feel somehow justified in doing so.

  5. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Yay, that looks like fun stuff! :D

  6. @astra Realized I forgot to mention that the times I was giving were Pacific. Adjust as you wish for your time zone. Or just figure it'll be at peak a half-hour before MLP airs on The Hub this Saturday. ;)

  7. A heads-up for folks in North America: If you're up to waking up a little earlier before the show, bundle up warm and look to the west at the setting moon. Luna will be putting on a bit of a show with a lovely eclipse, which will be reaching peak at 6:33 AM, making for a very pretty dark red (and, as it gets closer to the horizon, big-seeming) moon. Then, of course, head on in to catch this week's episode at 7. :) (NOTE: The eclipse will also be visible to varying degrees all over the world except South America, Antarctica and parts of Africa, so if you're getting up to catch one of the live streams, you may be able to go out and see it as well. I just thought the timing of it was kind of neat. :) ) http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OHfigures/OH2011-Fig06.pdf

  8. @pinhooves Ahhh, that helps a lot, then, when the money and such isn't a necessity. Sounds great! :)

  9. @pinhooves Well, I meant how aggressively you want to pursue getting more hours worked for greater pay. That sort of "hungry". Though bringing your lunch is important, too.

Tuesday, 06-Dec-11 04:34:54 UTC from web in context
  10. @pinhooves Very true. That can be good or bad, depending upon how hungry you are for the hours.

  11. @pinhooves Ewww! Store close shift isn't much fun, though at least it tends to be quiet. (At least I assume that's store close; the ones down here tend to either close at midnight, or be 24 hours.)

Tuesday, 06-Dec-11 04:23:52 UTC from web in context
  12. @pinhooves Wow, that's great! I put in my vote for that the other day, so I'm glad it's doing well. Also glad to hear that work is gearing up well!

Tuesday, 06-Dec-11 04:20:34 UTC from web in context
  13. @pinhooves Worn out and tired, but made it through the day without getting fired -- hey, I had to save SOMETHING for tomorrow -- so I'm taking it easy for a few. How are things going with you?

  14. @macpony55 Good night, and pleasant dreams.

  16. @metal Hello, there! How are you holding up there today?

Tuesday, 06-Dec-11 01:54:40 UTC from web in context
  17. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Inkscape? Eh, I'm terrible at art, and that sounds art-ish, so you may be failing, but rest assured that you're at least still better than me. Anyway, that sounds like a pretty interesting day, there! As far as getting paid for that, maybe one day, perhaps?

  18. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Hello, there! Crazy, crazy stressed at work. Lots of people out, so having to wear a lot more hats than usual, and cover a lot of work today. Life will be better in about four hours. For now, I'm taking a brief break. How is everything by you?

  19. @terlecnumber1 I don't like coffee much, per se, though I'll drink it in a crunch, albeit heavily "polluted". I do like coffee in my chocolate, though. ;) Mochas, mmmmm! Especially white chocolate mochas, with whipped cream.

  20. @madflavors Ohhh, no! :( I'm very sorry for your loss. That had to have been very difficult to find out. :(

  21. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Awww! Sounds like you have what I've been fighting. :( (Though your mention of "pony doomsday cults" does have me wanting to sing "The Doom Song" from Invader Zim, but me singing right now would be a horrible thing.) I hope that you feel lots better soon!

  25. @ceruleanspark Sorry I missed this on my way out earlier. (As it is, only popping through briefly.) I'm feeling relatively better. Still not feeling great, but better. I hope that things have been going all right for you as well.

  26. @mrdragon True, the job hunt is a matter of patience, persistence, visibility and networking. Just have to keep working it! :) Anyway, I should probably take a little nap here, myself, so I hope that the shower helps relax things, there! Stay well!

  27. @dezzierose Ooooh, will it be prosperously plentiful pending your profitable plans?

Saturday, 03-Dec-11 19:38:27 UTC from web in context
  28. @mrdragon I've heard "overqualified" way more times than I can count, too. It makes me want to scream, "Well, then, be glad you're getting me at this bargain price!" I mean, really! If I can get something better, for the same price everyone else is paying for a lower-featured model, I'm going to get the better-for-the-same-price one, not the not-as-good one because, well, the better one is overqualified. :p Having been involved in the hiring process on both sides of the table, I just don't get HR departments sometimes. (And, by the way, the best advice I can offer from this is to tailor your CV to the position, and the qualities/skills requested. Don't go overboard listing skills unrelated to the position.) Well, very glad to hear that you have an appointment scheduled to look at your neck and shoulders, and hope things don't get too bad between now and then. And I'm glad that you have some good support there from your sweetie. That can make all the difference in the world. :)

  29. @colfax @mrdragon Heck, compared to some responses I've received, that's preferred. Like that old saying goes, "If you can't say something nice . . ."

  30. @mrdragon Ohhh, ouch! Yes, I've gotten some really rude rejections to job applications before. I think some people forget what it's like when you're trying to find work. Not saying they should accept every application that comes in out of charity, but they should at least have some tact in the refusal. And very sorry about the neck and shoulders. I hope that you can take care of that somehow. (I have this odd pillow roll thing with a massage motor in it that I stick under my neck or the small of my back when I get that. Can't remember where I got it, sorry. :( )
