@greydragon412 Possible, but I think trying to make a scenario like that simultaneously teach a new lesson pertaining to friendship would be a bit of a stretch without some loose links, pulling us right back to the doubts about writing options for this season.

@greydragon412 Those lessons are already written and available as a reminder. If it's a matter of lost memories/lessons, why not repeat the same solution as from Return of Harmony? (Because repeating resolutions is not very fun to watch, I'm pretty sure the writers will stay away from necessitating an equivalent solution.)

The radio just played two songs in a row that I know from Ponymix versions. The song that was used for a Derpy rap followed by the base for Equestria Girls. "I'm Derpy Hooves and you've gotta get it together 'cause here I come and I'm droppin' anvils like the weather."

@lilytheamazingfaintingpony I guess my next question then is are the lessons and letters to Celestia even necessary anymore? What would the show gain and lose by abandoning that portion of its structure?

In terms of visual quality, Season 2 is clearly a step up from the previous, perhaps due to having key assets already established, they have a bit more time to use for refinement and polish. In terms of story, I question if the show is either hitting a limit on the development of the existing main characters within the existing narrative structure, or if the show is trying to subtly build an arc of less flattering portrayals of the flaws of these characters. Perhaps a lead up to a final about being humble despite the vices everpony has. Though perhaps there have simply been enough episodes that aside from expansion of the world, the lessons are becoming less profound and closer to echos of what we've already been told. The rest of the cast is having their Applebuck Season. Where is AJ's Rainboom?
