  2. When it turns out the person you're chatting with physics to is actually a professor in CalTech and they offer to write a letter of recommendation, themselves, if you want to apply, and you realize you have a chance to go learn hundreds of years of physics in 5 or 6 years instead of 20 or 30 years of self-teaching, and you reject the offer because you have to take care of your dad, but really you're just scared that you're not as smart as you think.

  3. If heaven is perfect, does that mean my dead cat from when I was little gets to kill and eat the flesh of birds as they flap for dear life, no matter how high he has to jump?

    And will they enjoy it?

  5. So I'm scrapping last constest for the art lotto, to enter, you must come up with these 2 lines between snowcone and scootaloo. I will choose my favorite when I do the art stream for this lotto, so you do have some time to think about your submission. Sorry @C and @voxxxRebel you can't win, but feel free to play! 3 entries max per person! http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/770105

  6. @nerthos That is completely false. As the prime, perfect, undeniable, absolute connoisseur of traps, allow me to correct you, in that although many traps are very unconvincing, large in part due to the chin, shoulders, jawline, and hips, many of them are successful. Do not insult my traps. My traps are law. http://rainbowdash.net/url/841495

  7. Dude...There's like...Billions of humans.
And they're all dying at different speeds. Some of you die faster or slower.
And you think you know why but really don't. The leading hypothesis for aging still isn't even completed and it's getting crazy advanced with telomeres and shiz. Still trying to fully understand that ageless worm thing I think.

Man humans are crazy. And that's just the age factor, there's so much else involved in your body and none of you know how it works and don't care beyond "Wow, that IS weird".
At least I can read my own code.

  8. I bet half the people who see this picture from some first-year level psychology book will diagnose themselves with autism.

The other half were already diagnosed by an MD.

  9. "What TV shows do you like?"
    "X maybe"

    Choose:
    >Uh, you like that genre? It's for stupid people. You should like Y more.
    >Wow, you like that? That's fine for a TV show I guess. I think I'm just more of an intellectual, I like the book version more.
    >Ew, you like books in that genre? I prefer this other stuff. The depth of it is so much more impactful.
    >Wow, you're into that kinda stuff, huh? Sounds pretentious to me, no offense. I like just taking it easy with stuff like X.
    >Oh, you're one of those guys? Nice. A lot of the fans are really annoying though and think they're intellectuals. So annoying.
    >Wait, what's Game of Thrones? I think I've heard of it before.

  10. Whoah, checking out RDN again and actually reading the messages, it's like everyone is only interested in saying something cool and getting recognized. They barely even reply to anyone else, because everyone else is saying equally silly things. It's like mindless small talk - But it's small talk even compared to small talk.

  11. @scribus Both are normal. One is a rational decision to remain as cool as possible, one is a respectable decision to /be/ as cool as possible.

  12. @lvbot The world's even at constant threat of war. So much unrest. It was never like this before. (Alexander the Great was obv a diplomat).

  13. @mrmattimation Oh, but they treated their slaves so well! Just look at the Egyptian slave tombs. The world is way worse now than ever before, I mean, a woman was fired because she was pregnant and was taking too much time off work! A man was fired for glancing at a woman and getting told he was sexually harassing her. A black man wasn't fired because he never even got hired!

Topic: Why the world is worse today than ever before, and why it'll obviously end in my/our lifetime.

    Fighto!

  16. I'm always baffled by how strongly people believe that fire - itself, not just fires you've seen and dealt with - needs oxygen, and not just an oxidizer, which is an element that 'takes' electrons and not gives oxygen. Half the time they respond more strongly than if you told them their religion / political stances were wrong.

  17. @critialcloudkicker Probably for the same reason people think that, if you forget to say "In my opinion", you're egotistical. Even though, by default, everything you say is your own understanding and beliefs.

  18. I know things like "SJW" and "Fedora" are just buzzwords. That's why I hate mainstream media. Any intellectual, empathetic being can understand it. That's also why I watch Fox News. They aren't mainstream, and they give it to me straight - They criticize the government, which is very rare in modern society. They may have their flaws and occasional mishaps with faulty information, but they're always careful, and what media /doesn't/ make some mistakes?

Fox News for President 2018. Impeach Obama and Clinton/Trump.

    - Fixed a minor bug related to people deleting their posts
    - Only mods can turn it on/off (Change the modList list as needed)
    - Will no longer be run independently, so if a person is interested in it, get python, install modules, run it yourself on any OS (I think)

  29. @awl You're on a website with a community of around a dozen active users, run by someone without any obligation to run it. It's a given, just like people on Twitter eventually being obnoxious. Honestly, we should be happy they take themselves seriously enough to not just ban people they dislike.
