@broniebrown Hot dang. .. ... Ehmm, allow me to ask you something else about games though, how are you on "advance wars" ?
-
@broniebrown Turns out my deduction of reviews was spot on then huh ? I'm sorry man. Howlong did it take you to finish it ?
-
@broniebrown To... ehmm... get the stuff they want because the first thing they had does not do all what they do, and the second either does, or does what the other does not... ... ... Really ? How hard can it be to have a good Command Line Interface ?
-
@broniebrown ... Why would you want to install multiple shells ? ( Shells are like command line interfaces right ? )
-
@broniebrown If you pair it with Antigen, it's worlds nicer than anything else I've seen. Syntax highlighting, command tab-completion, command spellcheck, plugins to make common operations easier (the git one is really nice). Support for "z", which lets you just jump to your commonly visited folders (as learned from you) by typing z (foldername) instead of having to cd the full path.

@broniebrown like me in the tuesday

@broniebrown I get the impression that Nintendo's kind of not allowed to present Mario as a villain? I don't know why but I think that's an in-house policy or something.
-
@broniebrown Another method is over analyzing stuff he has done over the years https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WMSQNVhMqA
-
@broniebrown I like the idea of Mario not being in it. I think the reason Peach gets kidnapped so often is because he's not there to stop it.
-
@broniebrown The final boss would be Peach, and when you defeat her you kidnap her. The game would be a prequel to every Mario game ever.
-
@broniebrown Not enough to make me look at the glass as half-full.
-
@broniebrown im actually surprised they system even started up tbh. it would usually go nuts with unseated ram...
-
@broniebrown So… Windows.
-
@broniebrown Libreoffice ?
-
@broniebrown I always find it relaxing, to slowly build a new system.
-
@broniebrown IMO support is not relevant. Even when phased out, absolutely critical security updates still come out, and the rest of the support is redundant for advanced users. What matters is if the system can deal with the newest hardware, that's what truly sets an expiration date for the OS.
-
@broniebrown Current hardware is well within Win7's limits anyway, no point in updating.
-
@broniebrown the I7-5820K looks like a bit of an oddball to me to be honest, hexacores ? never really liked the term ( dedecathreaded due to hyperthreading ... sounds even weirder ) ... but hey what do I know, I was forced into an upgrade at the end of Q1 this year and as such I only have an i5-4670K ( tetracore, not hyperthreading, only i7's have hyperthreading ) ... Are you running Windows 7 ? Yea pretty sure you need to load some sort of intel software to properly see howmuch your processor is taxed since taskmon in windows 7 was not properly made for anything over tetracores, probably octathreaded, not sure.
-
@broniebrown 6 CPU cores ? That's an odd number, what sort of CPU did you end up buying again ?
-
@broniebrown Also I guess around 6000 Debian packages install way faster than 200 Windows hotfixes out of which only 50% require registery access or reboot.
-
@broniebrown You use Debian ?
-
@broniebrown I don't really know the difference. I do know that my old case and motherboard gave a bit of a nightmare since it used the same slightly too short cable for HD audio AC97 and on the end were loose connectors. I had to rely on the loose connectors to make a proper connection or else my videocard would not fit in...
-
@broniebrown I'd be more surprised if it did not work... Wait did you have one of those cases with an annoying AC'97 possibility and don't know which one to pick ?
-
@broniebrown I have 1 SSD of 128 GB partitioned just right so I can install Linux at my own leisure at a later date. But I still have been lazy and still have not either selected the distro I want to install actually, and neither did I have done my homework figuring out where to park my /swap and /data/ or /home/ ( I'm kinda threading in uncharted waters again for I do not know 100% what I am talking about ) so it is mostly compattible with my data disk. ... ... I should do that once I have the chance and can be bothered.
-
@broniebrown I just immagined my old drill-instructor going "I can kick my left boot for Windows and my right boot for Linux" creating this really weird "wait, should I laugh ? if I laugh too hard will he kick in my head, well I hope not" moment inside of my head.

@broniebrown GTA 4 is a horrible port that I ... I should actually still test out on this rig. As for Skyrim, I can't really get into it, dunno why, maybe Fallout 3&NV spoiled me with it's ( in my opinion ) superior location, ambiance, weapons, settings, aestetics, ghouls, and story. the "look out, there's a bear at the end of this cave" does not thrill me in the least. Where a sign warning me about yao-guai's has me tip-toe-ing like I am in the middle of a minefield... ... ... Say you WINE those ?
-
@broniebrown Funny story. About a year ago this guy walks up to me and goes to brag about the specs of his new computer ( which may or may not have been mediocre, but they certainly were in my oppinion ) only to finish his sentance with "Now I can play Minecraft on max settings" ... Pretty sure I broke my face not trying to laugh in his face that day...
-
@broniebrown ... ... I wonder if someone using Linux ever ported IE if only to just mangoes off someone for funzies http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/798418
-
@broniebrown Oh yea I forgot about that. Actually I do not know of any Linux AV software come to think of it. Then again you who chmod 7-7-7's a virus ?
-
@broniebrown As of lately I have started to see the futulity and the usefullness of AV programs. If you know what you are doing you argueably do not need one ( yes you might want to scan your data-disk every once in a while just to be sure ) ... Meanwhile on the other side of this appartment block, this guy refuses to even touch an AV program because it slows down his computer and his enjoyment ( ? ) according to his claims, yet if I touch his computer and see what an incoherent slow mess his computer has become ( Pretty sure his browser has been hijacked 44+ times by now ) I cant help but see a pattern. Those whom say that they do not need an AV are probably the most suspeccable to actually needing one. Then again I never sat behind your computer noticing all the [install-minesweeper.exe] and [photos of your niece.exe] and [I'm a trainer for that game you love, totally not a virus, trust me.exe] on it while facepalming myself half a concussion.
