  6. I'm gonna 3D print a cyclone filter and it'll take about 3 days and about 500g PETG plastic. Oh boy. I hope nothing fails during that time. That filter will be a pre-filter for my vacuum in order to get my CNC shavings there before it gets into my vacuum. I'll plan to cut mostly wood and acrylic which will most likely not damage anything but it'll be a safety guard. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2829268

  9. Modeled a dust shoe for my CNC so I can directly suck off all the dirt and dust instead of dispersing it into the environment. I have to 3d print it and find appropriate bristles. Also I'm not sure if a pressure fit and cable ties will hold it firmly enough. The existing spindle mount doesn't allow very much in that regard. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/874955

  10. It is constructed! However it is too late to power it up. My eyes are tired enough. First impression: It's cheap and it shows at every corner. Despite the "Pro" in its name it feels far from it. The front (and back) plate where the rods and screw rod for the table are attached to is made of bakelite. I expected aluminium. On the other hand it seems to be thick and sturdy. The only real bummers are the plastic spindle holder and the plastic holders for the bushings for sliding on the rods and the plastic screw rod nut holder. I'll test it tomorrow or so before my complaints get any validity. I mean I got what I paid for: A cheap CNC for cheap money. Baby's first CNC. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/874944

  11. @drinkingpony I bought a SainSmart Genmitsu CNC 3018-PRO https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07G55SNZW for 220€ on a deal. There are cheaper variants of this but they come from smaller companies that are less reputable and I don't trust them much. The reviews are OK but that's to be expected for a barebone device of that size. If I want to do more and bigger things I can still make a bigger one with this and a 3d printer like this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:790533

  13. @drinkingpony Thi is Not salvageable with my skills. The pads go straight into vias to the other side and there it is all covered with WS2812 LEDs. 3€ down the drain. Not worth my time to repair that. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/874616

  14. @drinkingpony Can be fun for sure. If I'd build a clock I'd make something like https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3346801 or https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3201077 using an ESP8266 or ESP-32 and make it Internet connected such that it updates its time over NTP and add the ability to set the alarms by weekday and other superfluous features like a web interface for setting all of that and display temperature and humidity or a countdown to a specific date (Christmas)...

  19. @drinkingpony Or use the micro controller idea in a different way: make the micro controller translate the signal of a different remote control that the TV recognizes like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yyy7h7qh80

  20. @scribus Look up "eigenfaces". It's an application of "eigenimages" that use principal component analysis to pictures of human faces. In the process it generates an image that is an "average" image when each image of the set contributes the same amount to the final image. That can be used to recognize faces or morph faces.
The quality depends solely on the image set. The more faces are not aligned the "blurrier" it is and the more nightmarish it becomes.

  26. @drinkingpony https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2826950 Find someone with a 3D printer and let it print out for you for a small fee. I'd print it out for you but the shipping costs would be too high for its novelty value (about 16€ for shipping a small parcel worldwide for me).
