@oracle Evidently I am! I was actually thinking more of how Duolingo has a progress percentage, or "X many semesters (out of Y, maybe)." But heck, there is a test!

@oracle I definitely think the standards for piloting a kinetic bombardment device through populated areas should be more stringent, as well.

My honest opinion is that the general public should not be instructed with ability to drive, or at the very least, the privilege should require stricter testing standards. People (humans as a whole) are not as intelligent as we perceive ourselves to be. We are stupid, dull, prideful, creatures that make terrible judgments at the expense of all others.

@oracle Using and feeling comfortable with, sorry. I know a few people who feel that cruise control s dangerous and takes control away from them. I was hopeful that younger people would be more open to the idea, but many of my classmates are strongly opposed to the idea.

@oracle Which is why I no longer like programming for Windows, I prefer LTS style environments when publishing packaged software (for the convenience of the customer)

@oracle I don't have A/C either (except for the car). https://i.imgur.com/l28HtKb.png At work it's similar (also no A/C) but I don't have any thermometers there. It won't be any cooler in the next days. On Monday it'll be 35°C. I guess I'll be going earlier from work to continue sweating at home.

@oracle Yeah, and I usually do OK with them, I guess, lately... But today hit too hard and fast to even try, I was at 98% and tunnel-visioning and I just absolutely HAVE to get this done RIGHT NOW because otherwise I am a GORRAM QUITTER and WHAT WOULD MY MOTHER THINK... :-/ Still working at it. I have a small sand timer for periodic meditative breaks. But none of that makes the office less of a constant and absolute press, none of it actually fixes the problem, all of it starts feeling like a complete waste of time, and sometimes even trying to relax feeds the rage.

@oracle I've liked me a car-warmed Gatorade before, and warm Dr. Pepper used to be a widespread thing, it makes total sense.

@oracle I'm not a fan of a standing desk. I was offered one with an electrically adjustable plate but I rejected that. Also if I had one I couldn't use that because the whiteboard is right next to my desk. The whiteboard would interfere when raising the desk. Besides that all the cables are too short.

@oracle It really is astounding how much less than the sum of its parts the human polity really is. Probably something to do with the constant infighting neutralizing potential and wasting energy and resources.

@oracle I wouldn't consider an induced coma the same experience as death necessarily. Maybe deathconsciousness is like a dream you don't remember when you wake up. Maybe it's not consciousness at all. It's a falsifiable statement with the catch that someone has to die to prove it wrong. Incidentally, what have the people who claim to have died and come back to life said about it?

@oracle Well... Then I'd say that I prefer C++. It is finicky and hard to understand sometimes but it's the most universal language with tons of library support and has the best template system and supports multi-inheritance. I program mostly with C# and I constantly fall into unsupported language features of C# that I wish it had.

@oracle I guess some people would say that the "soul" is still in the body. It is fascinating that while under, the brain actually remains very active, just not conscious. So if a "soul" was still in the body, would they argue that the body is somehow in more control than the soul? If consciousness originates from the soul and not the brain, than why aren't people aware even when we turn off that functionality of the brain? I'm sorry, it just doesn't make any sense
