@ceruleanspark True, but a laptop you can buy off the internet seems a like a little bit of a weak link. I've had bad experiences with Thinkpads. Something ruggedized with a better antenna would be more what I had in mind, even if it would work.

Hey just to get an idea here. Most people, do you intend to stay with your career indefinitely until you retire? Or is it more like a stint until something else cool comes up? I'm especially keen to here from @minti since I wanted to be a programmer before I started uni (I didn't have the discipline or motivation to learn anything more than html myself). Then I went to uni to learn it first, and that didn't work out - it went way over my head as hard as I tried. AND my dream is to basically study forever at uni in my spare time cause It's 'almost' free in Australia too, but that's a different story. At the moment I'm studying something else but very much intending to switch to something if not anything else
