@greydragon412 Yeah. If you've got a story to tell, scenario to set, or an action that requires an area-specific propr, then a BG is good. If you want to train yourself up just as a matter of skill-building BG is good. (Or doing standalone scenery illustrations, which is also good if you want to get good at doing backdrops for videogames.) If you just want to show off a character design, action, pose, or object, a BG isn't always necessary. Generally, I'd suggest consider what is key to getting across your idea, and work on those key aspects particularlly. Anything extra may have a negative affect on the potency of your illustration.
