              • Yesterday I set up a Telegram account because my D&D used IRC before and it didn't work out that well (lack of offline messaging). Today a friend randomly told me that he noticed that I use Telegram now, however I never told him myself. He got a notification about that. To be honest I didn't intend to tell anybody that. I thought Telegram was all about privacy and security but this incident tells me another story.

              • Last night in D&D I kept using my Deck of Illusions inappropriately, at one point conjuring up a Hill Giant that I named Biggo. But since we then had to climb a mountain range, as soon as Biggo got 120ft away he dispelled. I turned back and whispered "I love you", and he grumbled "Supermaaaaaan..." It was both sadder and funnier than the end of the Iron Giant.

                • @thelastgherkin Our wizard used the Deck of Illusions to cast an illusion (a beholder) on the Lightning Rail tracks (a magical train that hovers in the air and is hold up by magic stones in the ground that shoot lightning) in order to stop the train because the tracks were supposedly manipulated by a Sherlock Holmes type detective gone full Moriarty. However the breaks were manipulated instead and thus the train was unable to stop and ran over the beholder illusion. We used a fly spell to get on the train and our sorcerer blasted a level 5 scorching ray and killed the lightning elemental in one round (5 individual attacks, two were crit with almost max damage rolls, and the rest were also high damage rolls). The train "rolled" safely into the train station with a huge melted whole in the front.

              • The fate of everything is made like this, in the collision, the test of one praxis against another. This is how the world changes: one way meets a second way, and they discharge their weapons, they exchange their words and markets, they contest and in doing so they petition each other for the right to go on being something, instead of nothing. This is the universe figuring out what it should be in the end.

                • The world is not built on the laws they love. Not on friendship, but on mutual interest. Not on peace, but on victory by any means. The universe is run by extinction, by extermination, by gamma-ray bursts burning up a thousand garden worlds, by howling singularities eating up infant suns. And if life is to live, if anything is to survive through the end of all things, it will live not by the smile but by the sword, not in a soft place but in a hard hell, not in the rotting bog of artificial paradise but in the cold hard self-verifying truth of that one ultimate arbiter, the only judge, the power that is its own metric and its own source—existence, at any cost. Strip away the lies and truces and delaying tactics they call ‘civilization’ and this is what remains, this beautiful shape.

                              • Way back when I was just a little bitty boy living in a box under the stairs in the corner of the basement of the house half a block down the street from Jerry's Bait Shop - you know the place - well anyway, back then life was going swell and everything was just PEACHY! Except, of course, for the undeniable fact that every single morning, my mother would make me a big bowl of sauerkraut for breakfast. BIG BOWL OF SAUERKRAUT! EVERY SINGLE MORNING! It was driving me crazy! I said to my mom, I said, "Hey mom, what's with all the sauerkraut?" And my dear, sweet mother - she just looked at my like a cow looks at an oncoming train, and she leaned right down next to me and she said "IT'S GOOD FOR YOU!!" And then she tied me to the wall and stuck a funnel in my mouth and force fed me nothing but sauerkraut until I was twenty six and a half years old. That's when I swore that someday - someday I would get outta that basement and travel to a magical, far away place where the sun is always shin
