  1. It's great to have The Bad Batch back. A 3 episode finale is great and all but it means that there is less time until the series finale. Animated Star Wars is given a lot of flak in the past, sometimes rightfully so for crap episodes and the initially jarring art style. On the other hand it is the source for really imaginative and sometimes the best Star Wars stories.

  2. The difference between applying matte varnish on acrylic paint is less noticeable than anticipated, especially when using an airbrush. I'm used to use brush-on varnish and it ended up making the product look a bit more wax-y as the thickness of the varnish was a lot thicker, especially on miniatures.

  3. Exclusive preview! It's not finished but I have nearly completed gift for a friend. The paint is still drying and needs some varnish, as well as a magnet on the back side. Other than that it is practically done. Sadly the colors don't show up well in the photo. The color variations are a little bit too subtle for the lighting and camera. https://i.imgur.com/tZKhdQ5.jpeg

  4. Sometimes I wonder how some things can happen without noticing it happening. One of the screws holding my bike rack vanished, completely gone. I guess it's time to buy a bottle of Loctite or any other screw locking compound.

  5. I got my mail box. It has some questionable design choices. I'm a layman when it comes to designing such things but it made me think. I can unhinge the the top side of the door for the parcel access when I reach my arm into the half-open package door. I can 3d print a fix to block access to that. I wish I had the tools and time to make my own, however it'd be probably 10 times more expensive with a high chance of failure.

  6. My friends prefer to use wireless headsets and the mics are hard to listen to. The sound is highly compressed and the high frequencies are cut off. I don't want to complain to my friends as it would be a dick move. I always say to myself that there are worse sounding microphones and I can be happy with the quality I'm subjected to.

  7. I just ordered a mail box that can also accept small to mid-size packages (40cm x 40cm x 20cm). It'd give me great peace of mind whenever I'm not at home and something is on its way to me.

  8. I have to stop thinking about upgrading my audio. I already have a good mic for work and D&D with my friends. It's already 100 times better than the apple stuff my colleagues use. There is just that small nagging feeling in the back of my head that says: "What about something professional with XLR connectors and a neat small mixer? It could be better!" The setup would cost me easily about 200€ and more. Not worth... But maybe... Nah... Not at this moment in time as I need it for more useful stuff.

  9. Watched the Marvels movie. Boy... It was not very good. Not awful as many say. It's rather bland. Thor The Dark World bland.

  10. Never ever will I buy any miniature paint from Citadel. All of them dried up. Those stupid tubs are not sealed enough and the medium evaporates. I do not paint very often so it's wasted money when they aren't usable after two or three years in storage.

  11. @scribus I think too. Also I have the suspicion that the tool I bought is kind of flawed in both handling and execution https://i.imgur.com/rWLHU0z.jpeg It is made such that you put one end into the area with the Teflon sleeve and the other end to the metal hole. Both ends are then heated by a flame (candle, lighter) for a couple seconds and then pulled into the Teflon area and there the ends are pushed together while the plastic is hot. After it has cooled down the screws are loosened and the tool can be removed. The hole in the Teflon area is about 2mm in diameter while the plastic filament is 1.75mm. Ideally the hole should be the same or close in size. Either way pushing the filament into the hole while it's melted is hard as the filament itself tends to naturally curl because it has been wound up on a spool before and hand-straightening is not really easy or effective enough. I need to shave off the extra bulge back to 1.75mm in order to prevent clogs. Wasn't expensive tough.

  12. I have finished the game! 93 hours! My burden has been lifted! I was gifted with the sweet release of dopamine with the final button press. It's past midnight right now and I need to sleep. Haven't thought I had it in me to push through today, as I was feeling sleepy the whole day.

  13. @zeldatra I'm playing with the Japanese audio. I don't know how good the English voice cast is but I'm very much used to listening to the Japanese voices. On the other hand the English of some characters is the epitome of bad. I cringe extremely hard hearing Bryce speaking English. If I were the director I'd rather have a voice-alike for the English. Maybe it was out of budget or time but it undermines his character in my opinion.

  14. @zeldatra Nanba's voice was always scratchy and throaty as far as I can remember. Chucking booze, spitting flames, and being homeless twice(!) isn't helping either.

  16. I bought a tool for splicing 3d printer filament. It's difficult as hell. I bought it so I can use up all those "too much to throw away but too short to print anything usable" spools. The main problem is that I end up having a splice that is way too thick to fit through the PTFE tube that will definitely end up as a print failure. At this point I think it is a operator failure than a failure of the tool. I give it more tries until I throw it into the corner.

  17. @zeldatra You are right. It was really odd that they were both very good buddies from his perspective. I would guess that Ichiban got his name from Songhee or Joon-gi (the Geomijul in general) and he probably meant with "everything Kiryu did for me" was just the little bit of Kiryu helping his cause in 7.

  19. Boah... I had to grind some levels as I noticed that the enemies hit way too hard. Mostly I could manage but it was too close way too often. Getting through all the levels of the dungeon and defeating the boss was also not an easy matter for which I had also grind some job levels. With those job levels I had a good selection of skills and additional stat gains. All of that was 4 hours of gameplay. It's the first time I felt some kind of padding.

  21. @zeldatra It took me about 15 hours to finish Dondoko Island. Strap in for the grind.

  22. @scribus It would be more if I didn't had the tax guy and did it by myself but it's a piece of mind worth the loss. Cannot tell how much time it saves me. It took me half an hour getting through all my papers, optimize some little things, berating me not having enough expenses as I didn't reach a threshold for a bigger tax payback, and getting it ready to send to the tax office.

  25. I have spent way too much time on Dodonko Island. Never played Animal Crossing but that might be the closest thing I'll ever going to play Animal Crossing. It's not my style of game but I suffered through it as the money income is quite welcome. Grinding for materials, waiting, decorating... I noticed very late that floor tiles are not paths. All the decorations need to be adjacent to a path to give bonuses. Either the tutorial didn't tell me how to build paths or I just mentally skipped it, however I remember saying that the player can build own paths but not how. It's with X on a XBox controller while in build mode.

  26. @zeldatra I'm in chapter 5. Language is very loosey-goosey handled beyond in every aspect of the game. At this point I just accept that they have some kind of universal translator that occasionally malfunctions. There is also the possibility that Kiryu translates everything but for he sake of drama and brevity it is not shown. In Yakuza 3 those English books from the scam must have some effect.

  27. I became the Sujimon master but at the end there was a normal fight for which I was severely under-leveled. Under-leveled by 10 levels. I was at full health and got steam-rolled in the first round and I couldn't act in any way. Sujimon battles are a decent way to gain money in comparison to Crazy Eats.
I really dislike the gatcha but the Sujimon fights are simple enough with their rock-paper-scissor-like battle system. It's like Pokemon (duh) with 5 types and each trainer has 3 active Sujimon on the battlefield and 3 on the bench. It as also some kind of ATB system for the initiative. The strategy depth is over all rather shallow beyond typing and positioning on the battlefield.

  28. @scribus At this point it has become a footnote in history and lost any kind of cultural significance beyond furry porn. There were a few films in the cinema but they were purely driven by nostalgia. I haven't seen any child wearing any kind of Digimon T-shirt or alike in a very very very long while. Also the name only pops up in conjunction with: "Do you remember Digimon?". Digimon can be considered functionally dead from my point of view. My interest in Digimon died somewhere in the first third of the Digimon Tamers TV Series and it was not big before.
