  1. Could you imagine living in a world where people live that call themselves 'journalists', but actually only really write hate-bait and click-bait articles. Then one day upper management investigates why the name of the publication is worth grape-all and gets rid of some people that were destructive towards the name of the publication.

Actually, scrap that. Imagine a world where people would call you bad names for summing it up like that.

What a crappy world we live in sometimes.

  2. @scribus I think I know what you mean. I hope it is not a Huawei.

Actually, I have NO idea what to get when my Huawei finally kicks the bucket.

  3. @scribus Would you recommend a Fitbit ? Most of the people I know just tell me it is a great way to keep track of the activity you are NOT getting.

And I am not just thinking that because Pee-Pee is a funny word used by 12 year olds. I was thinking of Private Pocket's

  5. @scribus Ah, that is sad to hear. Also I never really looked into it but always kinda assumed that the power production grid was mostly in the hand of the states, not individual companies.

  6. @adiwan How terrible is it that I can see the compression blocks of a 720P source on a 1440P screen ?

Now that might sound impressive, but it's really not, If you translate it back to megapixels you can even make a ballpark figure of howmuch it takes for your brain to register the raster.

    Meaning 720P (0.92 MP) on a 1440P ( 3.68 MP ) screen, that is 4 repeats for every pixel. 360P ( 0.17 MP ) on a 4K display ( 8.26 MP ) that's gonna be just under 50. I could probably count that without a pause button.

At least I think I am applying the math correctly here.

  7. @mrmattimation Wait, really ? I though california had plans to put their HV lines underground back in 2002.

And I can not really imagine MV lines setting fire to a tree in the middle of nowhere since why the hell would there be MV lines near 'wild' trees ?

Well, at least now I know how to make a proper google search so I can get some American news sources on this, thanks.

  8. What is going on in California ? I know little to nothing about the electricity infrastructure but aparently it is blacking out WAY too much.

Does it have anything to do with them not using the superior 230V format ?

  9. @adiwan **patpat** the universe is sorry, bananaty things like this happen. It is probably just a dumb elecromotor that decided to burn out or something.

If that is true though, I would be angry that it happened at all. If it is a cheap electromotor then that would be dandy but annoying, but if it was an IO error somewhere that would drive me NUTS because that means it could happen again on that specific kit.

  10. Worst Halloween party ever, first off someone who was supposed to set some things up did not. Then the person responsible pretty much flipped out any time someone even looked at her, eventually walking away from the whole thing screaming.

I fear the whole 'This is why we can not have nice things' is getting to me. Mostly because this is not the first time that happened, and as direct result it is making me really pessimistic towards anything at work that is not strictly job-related.

I swear if things do not improve soon-ish I am going to look for a new job.

  12. Media today...

"We are just going to edit an article changing the 'grooming' Russians to 'grooming' Republicans"

    ( 5 minutes later )

"Oh no we got caught red handed... Damn you archiving sites !!!"

    source 1 ( Russia ) : http://archive.fo/4K5cX
    source 2 ( Republicans ) : http://archive.fo/3VPvm

Yet these people ( Journalists as a broad stroke ) are wondering why the modern type of consumer is not buying what they are selling anymore. Well maybe it is because you can not even get a damn story straight.

  13. @mrmattimation But Ross Perrot ran on a platform closer to Bush's than Clinton's to the point where he endorced the republicans in 2000 and beyond. ( Also in 1992 he did not recieve any electoral college votes, but it was still considdered to have divided the voting public to a degree where Bush lost that year )

Tulsi Gabbard was the vice chair of the DNC and did Democratic 'things' before that. So instead of snooping off of the Republican votes ( like the 1992 Perot example ), she will snoop off the Democrat votes.

Remember when Trump had to sign an accord with the GOP that he would not run as independant ? Looks like "the worm has turned" to mangle a phraise.

So yeah, Tulsi, if you want to see Trump 2020 succeed. DO IT !

  14. @thismightbeauser Hmm, no, I think that I would dissapoint the spirit of all my ancestors if I put training wheels on it.

But after getting most of my body blue and purple and somehow exploding a tree, I felt secure enough to ride it around town running errands.

  15. @scribus I was sorta thinking of turning my RPI 3 into a google-less chromecast. No idea if it will work well though. Then I will get a RPI 4.

Though maybe I got my numbers messed up now. Dangit, I will have to go through a drawer of junk to make sure.

Sigh... and that is why I do not like mods automatically updating, still when I tell people that it is like they look at me like I am nuts...

  21. @adiwan Aw, sorry man. I would point you to my collection of certified dumpster collected tablets to pick a new one. But there probably isn't anything newer than a Galaxy Tab 3 lite in that pile.

But as far as recomendations go. Samsung S3 - S6 should be an absolutely lovely range of both how expensive and how well the perform. As long as you do not mind buying used and spend the first hour scrubbing bixby off of it.

TMW you do not know if you should actually laugh out loud or not, who knows the person showing it to you was a devout CAD.

He wasn't tho. I got to empty a bucket of laugh right then and there. Boy I tell you, that was a tense moment tho. I was not sure how much cropped up laughed my bucket would hold before overflowing.
