I'm not actually sure about the distance thing, its just what the man said when he came today to sort out our problem (which was apparently caused by using too many filters or something, even though we didn't change anything with our setup when the speed suddenly dropped from 3-4 down to lower than 1). I'd think being in a densely populated area would have an effect too.

@ellistia Is internet just really bad over there or something? You're like the third or fourth person I've seen from that area complain about their download speed.

@mrmattimation I think for the most part UK ISPs more commonly have lower speeds in favour of unlimited monthly data, though there still are limited data/faster speed options. What we've got is the cheapest option for unlimited data more or less, where the max we could possibly get is 5mbps, and yeah, then location is accounted for and the distance we live from the nearest hub means we have this speed. I'm content with it though tbh, it's just such a relief after having 0.8mbps for the last 4 weeks.

@ellistia Man, be glad you aren't Irish. I think like one company provides Internet for the entire countryside and people who pay for up to 8mbps often can't even load jpegs properly.

So a few days ago I made a new friend and yesterday we talked quite a lot and they even screen shared for a while, we went on until 5am before calling a night and idk it was really nice. But then today we have only talked very briefly and well you know how introverts work... don't wanna initiate conversation because of risk of coming across as clingy or annoying, but then of course I don't want everyday to become like this, I want more days like yesterday where we can talk a lot. Man I hate getting stressed over silly things like this. Why are friendships so hard.

@ellistia That's something completely understandable to get stressed about, friendships are important cornerstones of our social identities. I know I've run into that problem several times in the past, and there isn't really an easy way around it. Usually I've just tried to hang around and hope that they wanna talk at some point or bite the bullet and ask them if they want to, but neither can always work. I hope you're able to keep in touch with this friend though, it sounds like you're really fond of them.

There's far too many instances of once-close friendships that seem to have just fizzled into occassional "how are you"s and that's just horrible. I want to stop that from happening but I feel like there's nothing I can do.

@ceruleanspark sidestepping the fact that no one should ever trust a poll or survey or even a pie from one of their canteens after the awful performance of the polling companies. (and this is probably shown by my next point) I am shocked to see the Tories out having a lead in every category apart from poor people and women under 50.

Furthermore what really bugs me about objectivism is yes, I get the whole personal responsibility bit. I abide by it. But to make it law makes it seem as though humanity is incapable of charity on its own accord, also stifling the idea. It's too narrow a point of view. Given who came up with it, it is not at all a surprise either.
