@redenchilada I think it's just for those people who want to unlock stuff in the amiibo-supported games without having the figures itself. Some people share their data dumps online and thus enabling everyone with that device to unlock stuff in the games.

So. Apparently it's 100% possible to complete Fallout New Vegas without using any healing items whatsoever, and without healing. http://pny.lv/mfgq
And I do mean "Without healing". As in, ignoring any times the game just gives out health.
