  2. @zeldatra Yeah, I guess there's a pretty big chance I've screwed something up here as well. I often end up banned :x

  5. @adorable I see you're using the a StatusNet plugin for Pidgin. Does it have support for the public timeline? I'd love to integrate RDN into another program if I can find something good for it :x

  6. There is something wrong with me when I start downloading an album for "two free desktop wallpapers" *yawns loudly* Oh, maybe that's it. Maybe I'm tired

  8. @renovatedkitchen That makes a lot more sense, actually.

  9. @renovatedkitchen This post kind of implies that all posts you agree with should be thrown in a trash can and therefore considered junk. Interesting :P

  10. @hakupony I disagree, but oh well :P

  13. 49 minutes and 45 seconds of good music in FLAC format for 1 dollar? I can't imagine that 1 dollar was actually double the price they asked...

  14. So, I have just bought music. *puts on his anti-ridicule hat*

  15. @whiterose I hope the hurt will fade away soon, but I'm glad you're still alive and not letting it take you down.

  16. @whiterose Same, how's life treating you?

  19. @kamikaze Chaos Computing Club and Electronic Frontier Foundation, huh? Well, I do understand those choices. At least the EFF one, I don't know all that much about the CCC (although they seem like nice people). I didn't even know there was a FreeBSD Foundation.

  20. @kamikaze Ah, cool. I think I've only been a vegetarian for about 2 years, but I lost count. I'm only 19, though, so it would be impossible for me to have been that for over 30 years. I understand your fear regarding the GPL. Let's ask you rather directly: If you would support one organisation regarding computing freedom, which one would it be and why?

Saturday, 15-Dec-12 14:57:13 UTC from web in context
  21. @kamikaze That's fine, I suppose. I guess we're in a similar situation as I am with my non-vegetarian friends who try to convert me back to eating meat. I just can't accept any of their argument. I hope you can feel better knowing that the FSFE does more than just pushing the GNU GPL, although I'm sure you already know that.

  22. @hunter262231 I actually barely code :P

Saturday, 15-Dec-12 14:39:41 UTC from web in context
  23. @hunter262231 There's always a need to have Linux on USB. You never know where you're stuck on some weird place, with a weird computer, and need to be able to communicate with others on the Internet in a reasonably safe way. Of course, the computer owner MAY not save your login data, but who knows? Even though it's not fail-safe, it helps.

  25. @pony Could you explain "can install drivers"? Unless you want the NVIDIA/ATI graphic card drivers, you don't need to install drivers? But in that case, a USB stick is most likely WAY too slow to be able to use those well.

Saturday, 15-Dec-12 14:02:53 UTC from web in context
  26. @omni Well that contained a fair share of spelling mistakes. I hope it's still readable.

  27. @kamikaze I do understand your point, but I don't consider the GPL to be a real problem. Of course, it is less free than the BSD licenses are, and I won't lie about that, but the GPL does a good job at "infecting" software to force it to be opened it. I know, it's far from "friendly", but it's a counter against proprietary software trying to effectively locking us out of their products by forcing them to release their products in such a way that we can enable ourselves to use it as well, even if they try to lock us out. Yes, the GPL infects software, but I personally don't consider it something bad, as I believe the results of it are good.

  28. @pony If you're running from a Windows system, I would recommend this to create live USB sticks: http://www.linuxliveusb.com/. There's also something from within Linux, but I forgot the name.

  29. @hakupony I have no clue, honestly. Perhaps I'll abuse it to share my CC-licensed music?

  30. @zeldatra There are two ways which you can't possible screw up. Either you install it from within Windows, or you put the CD in your disk tray. If you install it within Windows, it'll put it inside Windows somewhere without killing stuff. If you put the CD in your disk tray, just choose "Install Ubuntu next to Windows". Believe me, it can't go wrong.
