If I had time I'd get an old keypad telephone and mod it with an arduino microcontroller such that it acts as a HID device and triggers keyboard shortcuts on certain button presses or button combos. Totally unnecessary but funny.

Welp... LOTR The Rings of Power is a thing that exists.

Yesterday I was on my way home from shopping by bike. The traffic by car was so much that the same trip with a car would take me 10 times longer, 20 minutes instead of only 2.

I read the manga "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Deluxe Edition Vol. 1". It's a very chill and relaxed story about a humanoid female android called Alpha-San in a Japan far in the future where the sea level has risen a lot and changed the coastal line dramatically. In this world Alpha-San works in a remote place at a cafe waiting for her owner.

@zeldatra My old school and university were very quick disabling my accounts. I had a month to backup everything. In that time I could snatch the last time a student discount on the Amazon Prime membership. For all the other stuff (except for cinema) the student discounts were for products that are too expensive to begin with, even with a meager discount of 5% to 10% like laptops. The only discount that I abused was getting Windows licenses for 10€ over the MSDN program my university was part of. I got licenses for the family and a hand full for me.

@zeldatra Giving guns to fetuses might be funnier. They probably have a right to bear arms and form a well-organized militia in some states (by their respective child-bearing mothers).

@zeldatra Hahaha. Oh wow. The same logic can be applied to this: A bullet-proof vest is not knife-proof. Good old chain mail is https://i.redd.it/wniq0txjswg91.jpg

The best play is to have neither a real nor a fake girlfriend. More money for comics and action figures!

Tried watching The Sandman. I ended watching the second episode and my impression is that everything feels, for a lack of a better term, "disjointed". Disjointed from emotion, disjointed from establishing a relatable main character, disjointed from a clear plot. I heard a lot that The Sandman has a cult following and it is highly regarded. So far I cannot agree with that sentiment.

I download things multiple times by accident because I forget I had it in the Downloads folder or I had a copy in the more appropriate folder, which I also forget I had.

@zeldatra Overstimulation... That's what I sometimes feel watching anime. Some try to fill a frame with so much detail and end up distracting at best and unreadable at worst.

F U Windows for being such a pain in the butt.

Finally I found a way to fix my Windows Update problem. It got stuck and refused to update at all since March of 2021. Because of this I rarely used my desktop PC as it would take 20 minutes to boot undoing the update installation and constantly nagging me to install the update. I had to use the Windows Media Creation Tool and "reinstall" Windows 10 from within Windows 10.

Paper Girls on Amazon Prime is waaaay different to the story in the comics, despite being produced by the writer of the original comics. I can understand why because the original would be waaaaay out of budget. Still strange.

@zeldatra Ooof. That's criminal indeed.

@zeldatra Promotion! Yeah! Hopefully construction won't take forever. When I had to commute about 30km to work I had often construction work on the Autobahn, which made the traffic so bad at rush hour that it added 30 to 45 minutes to the commute and forced me to start work at 6 AM to get around all of this. Even then the construction added 10 minutes to a 15 minute drive (under good circumstances and at about 140km/h and traffic signals.)

Today I was shopping for a new pair of jeans and on my way there I saw a man with a very peculiar printing on his T-shirt. It showed a naked furry anthro wolf in fetish gear and bat wings. I wish I could make a photo to show it. Just for the laughs of bad fashion taste.

As a good software developer I refactored a huge chunk of code and committed it to the DEV branch just before my vacation. As far as I could test everything works as well as it did before but who knows what I didn't catch. So far the new functionalities work too but on the way to the test and production server some errors could occur. I just finished implementing them.

Clone Wars somewhat redeems the prequels. The films are still very clunky and don't stand very well on their own but Clone Wars gives the films a little bit more dimension. Also with a lot of time passed between now and their releases it makes the outrage seem silly. As if Star Wars had excellent writing in the first place. It was always corny and clunky. The original trilogy came out at a time where those things were overlooked pretty easily as the overall quality standard of films was generally quite low in comparison to today. Nostalgia goggles twist the perception of the original trilogy films into something better it is not. Star Wars is a homage to old adventure serials that were quite bad and I adopted that kind of mindset and enjoy the moment. Even Rise of the Skywalker has some charm, harder to swallow but entertaining in a different way.

I don't know but I see it revolving around the internet that people depend on StackOverflow in their daily work to program and to look stuff up. I rarely use StackOverflow. StackOverflow tends to be deliver answers that confuse more or are wildly over-confident with their bad answers. RTFM man. Go to the documentation first.

Gnah.... I had to fix a puncture in my front bicycle tyre. I drove through some glass that was unavoidable the day before. Luckily it only affected the front and not the back. Had to use my last spare hose and needed to order new ones in the case I get another one. I could fix the old hose with a repair kit but a repair kit costs as much as a new hose and doesn't guarantee it'll work. I'm all for repair but in this case it doesn't make sense to waste time and money for a cheap consumable.

Shelling out 130 Eurobucks for a used AC with an external condenser was worth every cent. My apartment never was so freezing cold, especially not with 36°C (97°F) outside. I'd die a horrible sweaty death.

One thing is sure: The Bob's Burgers Movie was way better than the Simpsons Movie.

The Ms. Marvel series as a whole was OK-ish. I have read the original comic and the deviations are rubbing me a little bit the wrong way. The spirit is there but it is irksome. Also giving this series only six episodes was odd, as it felt it needed one or two towards the end, where a buildup was missing and the resolution was hollow.
