@purpletinker Guys, I am currently in a funk here. Rainbowdash.net's 1st birthday is approaching (April 4), and it appears that ponies are leaving, and simply not staying with us because this site gets old pretty quick. I am considering options on how to give our site a make over... but I don't know what you guys want in a social networking site for bronies! If you have suggestions, let me know... or we are not going to invest any more money, time or effort in keeping this place alive. We outlasted flankbook, but if we don't hear back from you, the user, we will perish. --Cabal

@cabal Personally I think a custom theme for this site would be super nice. That or getting meteor feeds working again (upgrade to 1.0!). xD I love this site and totally do not want to see it die.

@cabal Personally, I'd like to see private messages made easier and more apparent. (Maybe some kind of sidebar listing new messages, etc.) Additionally, something like RDNRefresh or MintRefresh could be built into the site itself. >.>

@cabal Honestly, the site's fine as-is (well, except for an update to StatusNet?). People just come and go on sites. This place is probably bigger than other places I hang around that have stayed up _since 1998_.

@forestrain @cabal Good point. We need a change in the message system, the mutual subscription system makes hard for new users to use it.

@moonprincess Yeah. I was actually throwing together a RDN theme on a local install of StatusNet and was going to show it to the admins but.. That kind of fell through the floor. But yeah, we definitely need a new theme.

@moonprincess Kind of the point of blue, actually. Advertisers use blue to convey calmness and serenity. (Read: boring?)

@moonprincess That's a matter of personal preference and you are given the option of changing it however you please. You can change it without any scripts, just go to Account then click the Design tab.

@cabal We won't perish, if nothing does get done then I will take RDN if this money will not be continued to be invested I will invest my own money. RDN won't die so long as I am here. Looking through the context, site design, we could also do with better stability, newer version of Statusnet to cure the back door issues and to bring up on new features, the mods that we have need to be re checked. Those that are no longer apart of this site need to go and myself and @colfax believe we have a stable mod system in place as is now, but if need be we will select another one or two. European for the euro times and another US timezone would do well. Basic, and simple changes. This fandom is growing at a rapid pace, as such users will come and go. It's quite fine as is, just needs a few small changes.

@cabal OOH how about themed days like Equestria Daily does? Like they did with the whole Daring Do Network thing. That looked pretty cool. There is a site called Ponies Are My Passion that lets you change the homepage background based on your favorite mane 6 character. And how about a users counter, like the tally thing that EQD does, but it shows how many users there are on the site. Clouds in the background like @minti said would be pretty cool too.

@firestormdangerdash @redenchilada and the departed @widget did all the things Minti suggested and then some. @rarity did actually fund advertising on Derpibooru for a while, which actually did seem to have some effect. However, I can't afford to run the site and pay for advertising on my own, so when @rarity ran out of spare money for ads, the ads stopped.

@ceruleanspark Perhaps you should set up a dedicated ad fund pool. And as the fund keeps growing you keep using the current amount to try bidding on a spot on Derpibooru/etc. DB uses a bid system now a days. Just a food for thought.
