@delores @tomey It actually makes more sense to make it the default than something you have to sign up for. People can always present a certificate if they're unable for service, and in any case being in the list doesn't mean mandatory service in time of peace, just that you'll be called if there's ever a need for a mass draft, which is highly unlikely since USA hasn't had a defensive war since the 40s

The thing that gets to me about this Nazi crap is that there aren't that many actual Nazis in the world, not anymore. The current debate about Nazis isn't about fighting legit Nazis, it's paranoia about a boogyman. Oooh, is that guy a Nazi? Is that a Nazi sympathizer? It's a way to dehumanize a target. Nazis are black holes of morality, anything done to them is completely justified because they're considered the absolute scum of the Earth. And sure, the real Nazis are. But like witches during the witch hunting days, or Communists during the Red Scare days, it's used to dehumanize people you don't like and then use that justification to do all sorts of terrible things to the person with the approval of your own conscious. When I beat that person, I'm not beating a fellow human being! No, I'm just beating a NAZI. He's a NAZI. And if you dare disapprove of what I do, you're also a NAZI, because only a NAZI wouldn't approve of my actions!

@ceruleanspark 50 basements, 50 virgins playing dota and cs 1.6 all day, the Brazilian diet is mostly rice, it could work. My hair is about 1.2m long by now and it took 7 years to grow that long, so considering the prices premium hair extensions go by, with one full shearing every 3 years, the math works.

@clacke @sargoth @xj9 btw when i say regulated i mean things like, laws making it so states couldnt coerce other states into returning fugitive slaves, banning importation of slaves (this was done a long time ago but still), etc, things done around the periphery because of the lack of ability to get it abolished outright.
the south (possibly correctly) considered slavery to be sacrosanct because literally from the foundation of the united states, slavery was allowed as a condition that made the union possible. there was only a united states to begin with because of compromise on slavery.
