  1. @abigpony And nah, insane twilight didn't ruin the episode. I love Party of One too by the way.

  2. @abigpony No no, what I mean is that they didn't need to feature as many characters as they did personally to get the point across. It worked fine - it's just a different approach that I feel would have happened in season 1.

  3. @eaglehooves Nah, it just feels different. It's not a bad thing at all. Season 1 just felt more intimate thus far is all. You really got to focus on a character or two per episode, and got to appreciate them. This one was just crazy-and-insane-Twilight and her interactions with everyone else.

  4. @eaglehooves Yeah, it just felt as if they were trying to hit as many characters as possible in the 22 minutes or however long they have. All of the Mane 6 (some with individual scenes), Cutie Mark Crusaders, Big Mac, Derpy, Mayor Mare, Background Characters, Celestia, etc.

  5. @thatonepony Yeah, I have a tablet laptop - cost way too much for the actual quality of the laptop portion of the device -.-

  6. @cb I enjoyed it - it's certainly a different approach from season 1 though. They seem to be trying to get as many characters on screen during an episode as they can. I'll see if they keep that up.

  7. @thatonepony Ooh, now that'd be fun and interesting.

  9. @thatonepony Yeah, I helped a friend out on his first assembly - that was a lot of fun. Wish I knew a few more people that had the need or the space for a desktop. ~ but alas, a college dorm isn't really all too accommodating to a desktop.

  10. @thatonepony My first took about 3-4 hours I'd say. And then installing Windows 7 Beta 3 times took a bit more time -.-

  19. @abighuman I'm currently in the process of a commission from the very talented http://yori-narpati.deviantart.com/ ~ She's only 16 and I'm paying roughly $1.50 for the work in the form of DA points (which it is my understanding will be used to maintain her premium membership). Is there a problem here? Should she instead being doing only her own artwork and not interacting with the people that actually follow her? Should she be looking for some professional position? ~ I'll go back to it again, a commission is not solely for the money - she's not in this to make more than the $5 here and there to pay the upkeep on DA. Instead, however, the commission slots she opens will be filled with unique orders of people and things that she herself may never have thought to draw, and in ways she might never have attempted otherwise. It's exploration with the feedback of others. It's why we post online, and why we show our work to others. It's just an alternate form of such.

  20. @purplephish20 I chuckled a bit I must say xD

Friday, 07-Oct-11 08:18:42 UTC from web in context
  21. @abighuman Not everyone has professional options. It's a rough field and you're not always going to be in a full paying position. At least such is the case for most artists. The fact that they're pursuing these leads and working on commission just shows that they love art enough to put up with that.

  22. @abighuman So.. is it wrong if I share my personal talent with people online, make a few bucks, which I use to go out to dinner or a movie with friends? Would you call that selling out? I'm talking college students and high school students here.. because that's what a lot of the low-end commissions you'll find online are. That or they're professionals in the first category. Perhaps they have a job in the field and are doing this when they have the time for a bit of spare cash and some variety.

  23. @thatonehuman Do what I do and widen the div of the page :P ~ Everything is popping up as a max 2-liner right now.

  24. @haganbmj @abighuman ~ And by that I mean the 'act' of selling things. They enjoy going out to festivals and being a part of them and interacting with the people that come through and make purchases.

Friday, 07-Oct-11 08:08:37 UTC from web in context
  25. @abighuman If you have the choice between profiting from doing what you love, and just doing what you love - which would you choose? Hell, the people I know even enjoy selling things in festivals https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/7018_156846031881_684396881_3572457_423458_n.jpg

  26. @pawnheart I'm just speaking from a college base. Now, my former co-workers certainly could vouch for the need for a little profit. They worked medium income jobs and needed the extra cash whenever they could get it. Does that mean they gave up on personal ventures? No, not at all. But they did try and sell product here and there - and they made sure to make the price fair based on the materials and effort involved (spray paint stencils on 3d surfaces generally).

Friday, 07-Oct-11 08:03:54 UTC from web in context
  27. @abighuman Everyone needs a bit of cash here and there. Plus it helps to take ideas from people as they help you personally develop. I have a number of friends that run commission solely for the sake of maintaining their materials, and make little to no advance on it. It just keeps 'em going and with subject matter.
