@awl I've actually read all of the manga too, with which I have many of the same issues (though it comes with the added benefit of not having Tetsuro Araki's vociferously noisy directing) but it too is enjoyable for the most part and Takeshi Obata's art is great.
-
@awl Animation holds up pretty well though, Studio Madhouse tend to be pretty great
-
@awl I appreciate it as one of the series that got me into anime as a kid, but my opinions on it it have definitely changed a fair bit in retrospect and in light of having very different critical biases these days. I don't think it's really bad by any margin, but I have a shopping list of issues with it (namely obnoxiously loud directing, a really uneven second half, raises interesting questions but doesn't really explore its themes in depth, and only infrequently works as a well composed thriller).
-
@awl My personal feelings on Death Note are pretty mixed, but it's for the most part worth getting through if only because of its celebrity
-
I was unbelievably excited for Despera when it was first announced (both because of the all star production credits and the really neat premise), and I hope one day it sees the light of day given that there's supposedly been a new director brought on board to helm the project (though we haven't had any bit of news regarding it in around a year and a half).

@awl It's not nearly as consistently strong as Lain or Kino no Tabi, but the show Ghost Hound (which Nakamura also directed) is also definitely worth checking out. Incredible atmosphere and sound design. It's such a shame he passed away back in 2013, he was one of my favourite working directors in the industry.
-
@awl I haven't watched Kino no Tabi in years and yet I still vividly remember exactly which episode and scene your avatar is from. That show had such striking imagery.
-
@awl you know the rules and so do I

@awl You could never appreciate my cooking anyway!

@mrmattimation I'll allow that
-
@mrmattimation @zennx Thank you
-
Alright that's enough from all of you. Zero tolerance on any arguments instigating the issue further.
-
@scribus That description alone is enough to keep me well away from it
-
@scribus I'm unfamiliar with this one
-
@mrmattimation Yeah, plus it's jumping the gun to promote the sequel when the prior work has yet to be released
-
@mrmattimation Good job, you have the strength and restraint I wouldn't have had were I in your situation
-
@scribus That's because beetles are insects! /s

@bigpony Update: The code worked great, thanks again for the game!
-
@bigpony The code has been received! I'm out of the house at the moment and can't input it, but I'll update here later when I get home. Thanks a bunch!
-
@bigpony Has anyone taken the Shantae and the Pirate's Curse code? If so I'd be interested in it.
-
@tiffany I'd like to think I've implied so in our off-site conversations, but just so it's explicitly clear I too also care
-
@tiffany So there you go! Long term investment!
-
@tiffany Do you think there are any other films or television series you'd want on BluRay?
-
@tiffany Hey, if you get a BD player in the future it'll be worth it, right?
-
@tiffany I guess for the time being you can't watch your Rick and Morty BD then.
-
@tiffany Dunno what your spending budget is, but you could hypothetically pick up a working BD player for around £50-60. That's just an estimate on my behalf though, you'd have to do some more research for yourself were you to find one for a price you'd find acceptable.
-
@tiffany Do you own a BD player of any kind?
