Derpy was changed because one of the people who works on the show has a mentally handicapped child. So every time you say things like "Save Derpy" you just remind him that Derpy is a derogatory name that could be used for his own son. So the #SaveDerpy campaign is doing the exact opposite of what it was planned to do.

@dlcentaur But what I mean by "only to be expected" has to do with the fact that people like @bronymike are famous... or notorious, perhaps, depending on PoV... because our fan culture spawned them. A lot of the content that keeps us paying attention to them is garnered by observing _us_. They watch for subculture trends and phenomena like #SaveDerpy.

@scrollhunter She was already canon. We took an animation error and turned it into a full blown background character! Just because we loose a single mention which NORMAL animators/show storyboarders wouldn't do isn't enough of a reason to bite the hand that feeds. I'm all for the #savederpy but sometimes it gets a little out of hand. You'd think WE owned the show.. not Hasbro..

all right, I gotta get something off my chest about this #savederpy thing. Please keep a healthy sense pf perspective about this whole issue. Nobody hurt derpy, she doesn't feel bad, and she is not being picked on. She isn't real, and these videos and images that ate trying to act like she IS real are actually a little pathetic. If you feel real guilt over a fictional character, you need to take a break. Hasbro has been getting bombarded on all sides with people telling them what to do about this issue. Hasbro is faced with a very difficult issue and in the end, somebody is going to be unhappy with how this turns out. Probably everyone. It isn't Hasbro being some evil big heartless company, it's Hasbro trying to do the right thing when being watched by people who refuse to accept that their opinion isn't as obviously correct as they think it is. Finally, no matter what happens, please try to remember that we are not the main audience of this show, and we are not owed anything.
