I've decided to actually properly work on the little D&D calculator I made for myself. I'm going to see if I can actually get it to a state where it would be useful to someone else if I released it.

dat feel when you're missing the last D&D session of the semester because of studying.

@ceruleanspark Violence isn't the answer. Words are. Which is why that dictionary worked so well.
-
@vcgriffin you miiight want to block out all that personal info sitting around on there....
-
@soren yeah, pythons pretty good. So is Java. But for pure absolute noob, Visual Basic and its great granddaddy BASIC are exactly what they say on their respective tins. Basic.
-
@soren well C and C++ can't be all that different. Most C programs compile perfectly fine in a C++ compiler. But that's just me guessing. I only know C.
-
@mushi VisualBasic.
-
@techdisk whereas C is all like printf.
-
@soren hrmm. Welp. Shows how much I still have to learn, then. Though I did take some Java and I got the impression that it was Much higher level than C. I mean, system.out.println. it literally could read like "Hey, system. Use your outputs to print a line."
-
@soren I'm not sure about what C++ adds, but after taking a course in C, I find it actually pretty high -level. (As in, closer to human than machine) for even higher level, Java.

!coderponies So I was ditzing around on the internet, and I found out that C++ was deliberately overcomplex. http://pny.lv/7uxu

wooo installing Windows 98 from some legit ISOs. (as in, I ripped them off my own CDs)
Also woo for looking up a product key because the manual containing my 100% legitimate Windows 98 key is at home and I don't want to wait.Wednesday, 03-Dec-14 18:04:30 UTC from web -
@meloetta that is awesome
-
@meloetta what?!?

Damn, this has some good stuff in it, but it's too much to copy and there's too many quotes to be taking pictures... I mean, It's telling you that if you don't want to remember that if you don't want to remember that the HTML in "somethingsomethingfoobar.html" means "use a browser", you can change the file extension to whatever you want, then right click and select "Open With"... http://pny.lv/7p6b

This thing has an entire chapter on the Win98 registry. This might actually be useful, since it hasn't changed much... :D

@mushi I hadn't heard of it either until someone showed me one and said "here, check this old thing out!"

@techdisk (no seriously, it's like betamax vs VHS. Zip drives vs Floppy disks)
