  5. almost done with the 2011 system restore... Please work... I want the windows install to at least work well enough for me to play some DOS games and uninstall things to make room for a Linux server or something.

  6. Huh. the video card has S video and DVI. Too bad I'm already using DVI for my laptop on this monitor. VGA it is!

  7. @vt3c P4, 120 GB HDD, a crappy video card of some description (at least it's not using the integrated one). It's a prebuilt Dell. Nothing special at all. But it was the only computer I had back then. And I threw everything at it. Including stuff like Microsoft Flight Simulator X. That basically made it cry.

  9. I do like how it still has the custom cursor I designed so long ago for it. It makes me feel at home. On a presumably broken, old, and slow desktop. That I loaded with way to much stuff. jeez I have some uninstalling to do before I throw Linux on here and use it as a small server.

  17. @northernnarwhal Yeah, It really pulls you in from the first chapter. And with a story that frikkin long, you need a long time. But it is a must read in the future. (also, somehow, Sombre is actually almost done writing it. it's a miracle. Over 1 million words.)

Friday, 11-Jul-14 16:17:20 UTC from web in context
  18. @northernnarwhal It really is fantastic. but yeah, it's so extremely long (heck, i'm quite sure it's the single longest story I've ever read). but worth it. It's the absolute darkest fanfiction i've ever read, and that includes the original Fo:E, but also amazing in that the darkness feels so real. It's not just dark for the sake of being dark. That ungodly amount of words has no filler whatsoever. It's all story.

  19. @northernnarwhal Yeah, there you're correct. But really, she's done her service. She doesn't need to grace us with her presence anymore. :P

  20. @northernnarwhal She actually got an account on FIMfiction, and uploaded FO:E to it. She does semi-regular blog posts there. So, I guess she's kinda settling into her fame. Still hasn't written anything else, though. Her blog posts contain some of her own headcanon for FO:E, which is interesting.

  21. @northernnarwhal yeah, she really is a great writer.

  22. @northernnarwhal It actually made me play Fallout for the first time, And holy crap those games are good. Also I had a quite unique experience with making backwards connections. For example: "Nuka-cola?, Oh! It's Sparkle~Cola!"

  26. So. Hang on. In the UK, you call underwear “pants”. So, does that mean whenever you watch American/Canadian media, and hear them talking about “pants”, meaning their “trousers”… Do you just giggle?
